M-AUDIO MICROTRACK II PROBLEMS

ok, does anyone have one of these? how come for some reason now my shit is all fucked up and wont record past 32 seconds? anyone know what im talking about? this shit is pising me off plaese help!!!!!

    did you check the flanging discombopulator? it's either that or a problem with the tailpipe.

    there were a few long ones. i loaned it out to roosevelt high school in boyle heights and i just got it back yesterday. i deleted all the files on it and it still wont go past 32 seconds. i really dont like technology.

    you probably have to reformat. That same thing happens with memory stick memory. files are gone but reformatting needs to be done so the doohickey sees the empty memory. so to speak.

    i just did what i think is reformatting. now it will only record up to 27 seconds! so here's my next question

    SHOULD I BE LISTENING TO DJ DAZE WHEN IT COMES TO TECHNOLOGICAL MATTERS?

    1. Turn on MicroTrack II.
    2. Insert your media, either a CF card or Microdrive, into MicroTrack II. The unit will reboot.
    3. After MicroTrack II has rebooted, press down on the [NAV] wheel until ???System??? is selected, then press in on
    the [NAV] wheel.
    4. Press down on the [NAV] wheel until ???Format Media??? is selected, then press in on the [NAV] wheel.
    5. When prompted with a confirmation message, press the [NAV] wheel again.
    6. MicroTrack II will restart after the formatting process has completed.
    You can also use your computer to format your MicroTrack II CF card or Microdrive. See Chapter 5, ???Using
    MicroTrack II with a Computer??? for more information.

    i tried formatting thru the computer and that seemed to work cuz now i can record up to 46 seconds! i think the cf is seriously fucked. at least thats what im hoping...

    ok im starting to kinda understand the problem. it will only let me record as mp3 for about 30 seconds. as a wav itll let me do whatevers. i think. since i have no clue as to what any of that means, i have a question. is it gon be a problem recording in wav format? i mean, outside of the amount of space and whatnot. but i would prolly have to convert it to mp3 before i upload, yes? i have never done this sort of thing...

    no problems with wav and yes to converting to mp3. it's probably better to record to wav first and then use a quality mp3 encoder after.

    Shouldn't be a problem. I've never used one, but as its writing the files to a CF it's the same as having a data dick of any other sort. Do you use a card reader? If not, I recommend getting one.

    ok, so this is why i never do this kinda shit. im already done with it. fucken piece of shit. anyways, it has taken me all of about 4 hours but i think i finally recorded 1 side of a record. now i am uploading it to megaupload and it is gon take about 3 hours. what the FUCK!!!!

    WTF IS A MP3 ENCODER? WHY CANT I JUST DROP A NEEDLE ON THIS FUCKEN THING! IM GUESSING I NEED A MP3 ENCODER OTHERWISE IT TAKES 4 HOURS TO UPLOAD A 7 MINUTE SONG? PLESE HELP WITH ENCODER. LIKE WHAT IS IT? AND IS IT FREE?

    did you convert it to mp3? uploading a wav is going to take significantly longer

    easiest way would be to download this: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
    and then open the wav file and i can't remember exactly but you either "save as" and choose mp3 or export as an mp3.

    once u get audacity, you have the get the LAME encoder and point the program to it's location....

    its simple, download the program and lame encoder

    install audacity
    go to preferences
    point it to the lame encoder

    plug the output of your mixer into the line-in on your mac

    hit record

    BANG!

    ok, i think i did it. let me know if i should be recording this a different way. i went thru a vestax pmc-05 and its pretty busted but it works. out to my microtrack thing then from there to my computer thru that audacity thing to divshare to here. i hope i will be able to remember the steps. this took me all frikin day to do dammit!
