Yeah, used to be a really sought after record. Nevertheless a great find and a cool record. It was just laying there on top of a pile of silly dutch stuff.
That Popjazz record is really great too. Can't find a date on the sleeve but I guess it's mid 70's. Sleeve says: Variety Orchestra of the Committee for television and radio. Sofia Orchestra on side 1 and Stakato Orchestra on side 2. More info is welcome. Several funky big band crackers on this.
We cleaned up the old attic of our last Appartment, found tons of things to sell, and I found a bunch of my old Graffiti sketches from the 80`s, Sketches for Flyers, etc. then we went to Guy to sell the worthy things, in the Record Store next door I found: Younger Generation "We Rap more mellow" 5 bucks Leon Haywood LP witd "i wanna Do something freaky to you" 5 bucks (got for Years but it??s a good trade over here) Donovan "Get thy bearings" 30 min later a friend gave my his old Ghettoblaster as a present. happy Day!
All OG. Finally caught that Roy Porter from a store that had a couple copies of Jessica and Inner Feelings from one of the musicians that played on both sessions. And no, you're not seeing double thats 2 copies of OV Wright Nickel and a Nail also Ace of Spades. Both in excellent play shape/bad visual shape. The other OV is in Excellent shape. That Jimi Hendrix/Lonnie Youngblood is on some face melting psych blues on Maple. The Asiko and Mangue Konde are uber as well.
Damn, nice finds. Was the Asiko out in the field? That Jorge Ben is one of his nicer outings.
Thanks! Actually, the Asiko was bought off a friend of mine that has a sick african collection. I've been chipping away at his collection for a while now buying some nice pieces.

I see somebody's been to Atomic recently
I need to hear that other non Nickel OV. It just looks too good
I need to hear that other non Nickel OV. It just looks too good
Yup. Atomic has some heat right now at pretty reasonable prices. Amoeba and Freakbeat have been dry as hell so It's great to be able to pick up some longtime wants for way better than ebay prices. If you can pick up any press of that other OV, I highly recommend it. Southern soul at some of it's best
affordable copy of the first dark city sisters - gorgeous early sixties vocal harmonies from South Africa.
lucky local thrift find
truly m-/m- og of my favorite Pharoah.
root down - replacement for the copy i sold last year and turned out to miss (didnt see that one coming)/ thanks to Karlophone!
enja issue of "swinging macedonia", great balkan-influenced jazz w/ nathan davis.
the charles wright might be my favorite by him - the sound works, and this has already gotten a lot of play - they even do a tolerable cover of the stones' satisfaction! -
another piece of the black ark puzzle, almost complete now.
cool colon w/ "la murga de panama"
early moments on stang
dutch-issued jazz
Numero coming 100% correct (as ever). The sleeve to "guitar soli" is a work of art!
JA 45's: maytones "babylon fall", freddie mckay "sweet you sour you", val bennett "the russians are coming" and u-roy's "tom drunk"
Record o the upper left is Dj Cam - street vox , the 45 is DJ Spinna - Dillagence/Spirit of '94 That Patsy Gallant is pretty shitty but I can't complain since it was free. Lower left is a killer house track featuring Jon Lucien on vocals. I also have the LP on which it's featured but this has a lil bonus mix that's worth it.
some stuff - a few trades/ some local cheapies and a few of the 7's were the remainder of my paypal balance gone:
this is the first LEE HAZELWOOD that ive got - i assume its a comp or something - and its brilliant. what a cool guy - love the 'boots are made for walking' version. the "Emmanuelle" OST sounds pretty boring - thought it could be good as it's by HERVE ROY. DENNIS COFFEY is great fun - brilliant "whole lotta love". been after the ANANDA SHANKAR for a while - brilliant album - "dancing drums" is a face melter!! cheers a**n.
havent listened to the others yet.
the 7's are: THE SWEET - "juicer" (nabbed a p/s for a tenner inc postage - what a great tune) BOB GAUTHIER - "funky junkie" (first heard on rich hero's swap cd - blew my face off!! slow heavy groover with shouty, raspy vocals. brilliant stuff. other side is great too!) WIMPLE WINCH - "save my soul" (amazing. reissue, unfortunately) B-MUSIC TOUR 7 VOL 1 (picked up at the great fun bristol bit of the tour.... the ERSEN track on here is killer) WOLF PEOPLE - "storm cloud" (great suff) CHANTEL - "si tu veux etre heureux" (daft ye-ye stuff) CARLOS - "big bisou" (bought for the silly cover and that it had B. ESTARDY on synths- but its rubbish) LEN BARRY - "bullseye" DAVE, DEE, DOZY BEAKY MITCH & TITCH - "the sun goes down" (nice psychedelic rocker) SPENCER DAVIS GROUP - "somebody help me" MANFRED MANN & MIKE HUG - "ski 'full of fitness' tune" (it could have been awesome)
plus a lot of 4 LULU 7's - including "love loves to love love" (finally)
