Er? I thought it was nothing more than sticking midi to your PC/mac, firing up your favorite DAW and vsts and just sampling the audio output on the MPC. Guy makes it look so difficult. It may be that I'm missing something here though.

Do you have the MIDI keyboard you are using for the synth plugged into your computer or to your MPC? I have a feeling that going through the MPC is going to be easier.

Logic's environments suck. Worst part of an otherwise intuitive DAW.

  • hey here's the template that I use, and it looks more simple that the one on the video you posted.

There is 8 instrument tracks that should respond to midi channels 1 to 8, like a multi-timbral sound module.

  • I haven't watched the video but here is the best way I have figured to keep shit locked together:

Buy a 100$ midi keyboard (or a more expensive one if you choose)
Send the midi keyboard out to pro tools in A
Send the pro tools out to mpc in A
Make your beat on the mpc
When you get to the point that you want to add soft synths, turn on PT
Open a new session and set the bpm to the same as that on the mpc
Open the session info drop down and send MTC to midi out A
On MPC, open the Sync menu and recieve MTC on midi in A (make sure the frame rates are the same, they should be standardly set at 30 methinks)
hit play on PT, boom, MPC is in step
Open your soft synth on a instrument track or open rewire and get busy in PT and let the mpc slave
when you are done, mix it up or hit play and record to dump MPC into PT
