Though I have eaten at McDonald's, I've never had a Starbucks coffee.
I used to base the demise of a neighbourhood on whether a Starbucks was moving in, but now I might have to amend that to "and/or American Apparel".
my neighborhood (Hayes Valley) has miraculously been able to keep Starbucks out through pure grassroots activism.
it failed in Israel when I lived there also. pretty entrenched coffee culture there, and no one was going to Starbucks. so they closed up shop. plus you couldn't get a turkish coffe there so...
