Mailing Records on the Company's Dime?

It's all about your home boy in the mail room hooking you up. I'm sending records to Switzerland today and I didn't have to pay for it for starters. But more importantly, I didn't have to venture to the post office. Which in my opinion should be reserved as punishment for convicted sex offenders. Is mailing records on the company dime or

    I use the company postage meter for convenience but pay for the postage. I'd hate to get fired over something as cheap as postage.

    it's all about getting over on the corporate dime [unless it's a really good employer]...

    just keep it in moderation. use it on days you're too sick to make that trip out of the office, if you have a really busy schedule, or if your mail is low. otherwise just do the right thing, cause that would be a dumb ass way to get fired.

    So do I, but it's because I can't really get packages delivered to my apartment since my mailbox is outdoors. And I'll be damned if I'm going to be hauling all the way down to the UPS distribution center in South Boston every time someone ships UPS.

    Note to those who work in shipping at record stores: UPS sucks.

    best shit ever was when Herm and I both worked at Wells Fargo in different states. They have this inter-office mail system called MAC-Mail where you just put whatever you want to send in this box with the right MAC number on it and it gets to that office or branch usually within 2 days sometimes next day.

    the downside was - all he ever sent me was bad cartoon porn.

    and if anyone at work questions why I keep getting these foot-square packages, I tell them that they are archive storage discs from 1973 that I need to check.

    oh man. i used to get incoming sent to the office to avoid wifey shame. the only problem was there was a communal package pile in an unused cubicle. i didn't get busted or anything but one time one of my bosses asked "what is that square?" and i said "a client must have sent it, don't know" and she countered "but it's from sweden, who do we work with in sweden?"

    You folks keep it on the low that they're records? My mail guys know what's what. It's not like it costs them any money to drop off another package at my desk from time to time.

    Yeah, I get mail here on the regular, and so do most of my co-workers. When I got my sound system for doing parties/weddings, I had it shipped here, and it is not a problem thankfully. It was huge, but I would rather have it delivered where I know where I will be than sitting outside on my porch at home. Not to mention that I think a little more care may go into handling at commercial locations than home deliveries.

    As for using company postage, not smart if you are doing it on the regular for priority or UPS type stuff, because most places take that kind of cost seriously. For a cd or dvd or 2 occasionally, I doubt it would be noticed unless you did it all the time. Generally not worth the risk.

    One guy collects rare pottery
    another football (soccer) programmes - man there's a minefield and goldmine rolled into one
    One rides for rare coins

    I'll even be interested in their pending big ticket ebay deadlines, the chase being as good as the catch

    My boss couldn't care if I get records sent to the office. I just got a big want in the mail this morning. I opened it up in front of her and showed it off. The again, music is a part of my job so I think it's more expected.

    Especially when the customer has PAID for it. The only temptation would be if you're mailing a lot of stuff every week and I don't think your mailroom boy would be as comfortable with that.
