    THERE WILL BE EBAY

  • i'm surprised no one has brought this movie up. i've heard good things, but haven't seen it yet. is there a part in the movie where daniel day lewis slams a glass on a table and the camera zooms in tight on his face as he growls "THAR WILL BE BLOOD"? because that's what comes to mind whenever i see that title. i just don't understand why anyone would name their movie this. seems kinda overdoing it

    BEST MOVIE EVERRR!!

I actually saw this last night, and it reminded me why
I never watch SNL anymore, even if I'm around when it's
on ... they have a guy doing a great impression of DDL
in TWBB, and they squander it on a terribly conceived and
written sketch. SNL so often comes down to funny people
doing unfunny things. Great impression, horrible sketch.

    me, too.
    seriously.

  • Agreed, SoI...I didn't even get what was going on in that one half the time. What the fuck.

Not to mention...They're back from the writer's strike, and the first sketch after the monologue is a ROCK OF LOVE parody??? Way to mail that shit in guys.

    me, too.
    seriously.

so i just learned from the OSCARS that it was based on a novel by Upton Sinclair and was ready to feel really dumb if that was the title, but then i found out from the internet that Sinclair's novel is called Oil! (exclamation included)

i must not be reading the right TWBB threads.

That's the thing - I was laughing at first, just because
the impression was good and everyone looked funny ... but
like so many SNL sketches, once the jokes started it just went
nowhere and people were reading cue cards poorly and I got bored.

  • Fred Armisen DID have Obama's mannerisms down. But, yeah...that opening sketch, too, went nowhere.

After the digital short that SoI is referencing, we went to bed.

  • i tried to watch 3:10 to yuma and michael clayton this week and couldn't finish them. am i really this disconnected from the movie going public? i can't be that much because i enjoyed the bourne ultimatum... and that just won 2 oscars.

3:10 to Yuma was garbage sold as art. I went in with high hopes given the reviews. The ending was bullshit. Just a by-the-numbers shoot out. Nothing special about the direction or acting.

I just realized that the oscars are on right now.

They're playing some boring tribute to old movies..

They don't know how to end a skit. This was a great skit which they fucked up with the Juno ending. They gotta realize that less is more.

  • they are going through the who has died this year part and it's weird to me the level of applause each one got, like heath ledger got more applause than ingmar bergman. also, i had no idea jane wyman died this year. i'm a little bummed about that only because i haven't appreciated her roles for that long.
