oh I know I got it too, that was the whole reason I BOUGHT the 12" got it home and was sooooooo bummed it wasn't on there. Mashups weren't super big back then so I kinda think it was a remix but I could be wrong.
Most of these seems to be earlier than 90's. If you're into 80's dancehall than there's no better place to start than this comp.

we were callin em blends back then...still do today as far as me personally. i had heard so many crazy dancehall blends and shit then that people were maybe pressing like 10 copies of. aarrrrrrrrrrgggggg i wish i took the opprotunity to collect some of that ish back then rather than just the regular trifecta of jazz/funk/soul
If it's just a case of an instro + acca, surely you could recreate it easily enough. There've been a whole load of ragga acapella releases since 'mash-ups' became popular again.
don carlos - spread out
john holt - police in helicopter
yellowman - zungazungazang (how ever you spell that)
u roy - weather baloon (the back picture on that album is the best)
i made this mixtape back in '01 of nothing but early dancehall & dub and that shit STILL gets crazy play around my way from my friends & their friends. that was actually the only joint i ever put out on CD so maybe that's why. i've gotten more than a couple requests through the grapevine that peoples copies are getting old & scratched up and they want new ones.
http://theserockspop.blogspot.com/2007/12/duppy-ranks.html
haha I'm just keeping up with the terminology. I called them blends back then too.
I don't remember ever hearing it again after that so it could have been something like you're describing.
no it wasn't just an instro, it was a beat made from a sample from Beat Box...at least that's how I remember it.
thanks ya'll! yeah i knew some of those were a bit older. this gal i knew up in vancouver had radio tapes from toronto from the early 90s late 80s and just joint after joint and no idea what they were! i'll look for this comp....
Well you can get the acapella here.
Now all you need is the beat.. theBreaks says these sample 'beatbox'
* "Beat Box"
Gospel Gangstas - "One Time"
Heavy D - "Swingin Wit Da Heavsta"
Jungle Brothers - "You Make Me Sweat"
Marky Mark - "You Gotta Believe"
Professor X - "Shalom"
X-Clan - "In the Ways of the Scales"
maybe one of those would fit.
(as you maybe be able to tell I is bored)
Sail Away Riddim
Bookshelf Riddim
Filthy riddim
Playground riddim/JoyRide Riddim
these things are def all over thrift shops, as most of the club dj's who bought 'em dumped em after 6 months...
this is one of my favorites...
i have the same problem djkingotto...
here are some I play when the time calls for it...these are all kinda played tho too...

Wayne Wonder - No Letting Go
Yellowman - Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt
I was going to post a link to Rodigan's site, that has a real nice mix by him where he plays differnt styles, but it appears to have disapeared.
Most ragga djs I've seen (IRL) play several tracks on each riddim, so they just cut from one track to the next, no need for any fancy beat mixing. Other wise its not unlike mixing soul/funk. But like mordecai said you cant go wrong with "backspin, airhorn, lickshot"
Bounty Killer - Cellular Phone Remix 12"
For any additional info I would call Soul One ... He knows all about the dancehall.
