In Belgium (and some of the better places in Holland) they have tartaresauce as well. It's a bit like mayo but with herbs in it. Lovely stuff but terribly greasy.
those sauces at the joint on 2nd ave just south of St Marks is the shit tandoor mayo, roasted garlic & rosemary, all yer amsterdam options (even that canuck cheese curds & gravy)
agreed, was duped into enjoying it in europe for a time because it is obviously quite edible and the norm when you're there but; no. Just no. Ketchup is king. Infinite dips, even with cheese and gravy on the other side of your fry.
Saw a program on the television the other day about how most of these places only change their oil every once in a while so it gets all dirty and old. Disgusting and can be really hazardous to your health apparently.

The best condiment i have ever had with fries (or as we call them, chips) was the unfuckwitable tomato chutney sauce by a company called Whitlocks.
damn, i could drink that by the gallon.
Wifey is all about the mayo and i make it fresh at home when i make fries, but for me its all about the tomato sauce.
That's worse than chips and eggs.
Two words Japanese Mayo[/b]

straight up NL mayo is alright ( a bit weak)
baltimore = french fries wets (with gravy)
ehh!
i'm all for fries with gravy.
Haha, didn't know that! Always seems a bit of problem to get it in Amsterdam.
Ever heard of Patatje Oorlog?
thats the way to go;
Mayo+Peanut Sauce+Chopped Onions.
Yeah man, that's it. How do you know about this?
i start to get a bit edgy if there isn't any of this at the ready in the fridge.
We're fellow country men Markus!
"fellow country men"
XXX
slow down boys...
That explains it all.

I used to do that as a kid, still do sometimes. Buttermilk sauce from Jack in the Box + Curly fries = so bad for you but yet so tasty
I am fond of rocking ketchup and mustard on standard fries though.
No, no mayo please, ever.
are you brittish?
Nah, just like the tartness and saltiness of the vinegar...
mayo's alright, ranch too. but i dont really NEED to dip my fries in anything. i'll take em plain, please.
my girlfriend dips her fries in mashed potatoes. im not sure what that would really add to the taste......
