Heyo, I'm gonna be out in LA the first weekend in April doing a show with my dance company, and I'm trying to book an after-party at a spot somewheres in the downtown area. Any suggestions on a spot that is DJ/dance friendly?thanks!

not sure if theyre open to one off gigs. not sure if any club is unless u pay for it.
short stop always smells like toilet. and i really dont like it inside there. it feels gross. la cita on the other hand was an old ranchera bar and they kept the original interior. for a while there i went to a couple of these paisa bars to try and get a oldies dj gig. i was just checking them out. bad idea. anyways, la cita has the same interior and you dont have to risk your life to get a gig. indigenous socal vibes.
fyi, for reference, short stop is/was an old cop bar and after dodger game hangout. they kept the interior in there too i believe.
Yeah - plus Footsies in Cypress Park.

Redwood Bar does. It's in a sideroom, off the main part of the bar/restaurant. The DJ booth there is great but the room itself is kind of funky; feels like someone's basement.
It's about the same size as the dancefloor at Jimmy's Lounge in terms of square footage. Not huge but not tiny either.
Yes they both do.
The dancefloor at the 107 is great. DJ booth is on a balcony overlooking the floor, and the floor will hold 50 people or so. Go straight to the end of the bar, through the doors and there's your space.
whats jimmy's lounge?
That's where Funky Sole moved to...it's still in Hollywood, a few blocks south of the old location? It's a decent space; the dancefloor is one step higher than the main floor and set off to the side when you enter. The problem though is that it's not huge and people only dance there and from what I saw, not elsewhere in the bar. That said, it has a big patio space outside which is nice.
