what's the difference between Neo-Soul and the last 10 years of R&B?
Not all contemporary R&B is "Neo-Soul". While R.Kelly does acknowledge his roots he isnt as referential as the initial Neo-Soul artists who overtly channel the Hathaways/Gaye/Womacks/Flacks/etc.
Sparkle is a long way from Angie Stone yet they do dovetail in many ways.
I????ll check for it, It??s definetly in a dollar bin somewhere.
Did that Grown and Sexy album ever drop somehow_ That CD that DID come out was pretty tepid.
Bilal??s ??High and Dry??was my SHIT last year. Dude killed it. And speaking of Bilal??s, this dude Bilal Salaam has some good tracks, haven??t heard the entire album but what I do have is very enjoyable
I????ll check for it, It??s definetly in a dollar bin somewhere.
Next to Sa-Ra?
You mad because Taz rocks the all over hotsauce print gear better than you!
BTW????
I danced to some straight up tejano heat last night. shit was dope
You still in the motherland? Do you know what it was?
yeah man, i??m here aaaaaaaaaaaaalll the way to the 7th. i??m starting to get bored and ancy. It feels like i??ve been away for like 2 months as opposed to just to two.
naw i didn??t know em exactly, but I did recognized them from my local taco buying experience.
i??ll find out the tracks though.
The funniest shit was that they dropped Montell??s ??this is how we do it??and Hammer??s ??pumps and a bump??.
I was mega dissapointed with the avilla bros album. I want you was such a killer soul track and when finally getting the album I could barely finish listening to it.
I??m on the fence with Spacek. I feel like a lot of his stuff is just okay and a little too much on the minimal off kilter future soul steez. But I never checked his album though

ha. yeah he's from around the way too- IE, rialto high.

I hear you on that, but give "Spaceshift" a listen. That album is hot IMO. It's still got that minimal weirdo soul feel, but it creeps up on you. I find myself revisiting that album a lot. I've got "Curvatia" (the debut) too, but it doesn't get nearly as many spins.
I never really got into her. I thought Amel was sort of the epitome of snoozy new soul.
As far as Teedra, she??s from the Town and I haven??t heard from her since that track she did with Raphael Saadiq ?? want you back. The producer for her album is dope, I wonder what else he has done.
Man, I still haven??t checked out Dwele??s first joint ??Rize??.
The first Brandy set. Strong songs and she sang the crap out of them. Erykah's stuff has been really patchy after her first set. "Clever" is nice though. Jill Scott - "Who Is?" and "Beautifully Human" coe sign. That live set stinks. Conya Doss - "Just Because" Brown Baby Girl (ST) Chaka's "Funk This" has some niceness to it, esp. "Ladies Man". DWELE! Frank McComb's stuff. Gary Taylor - "Retro Blackness" (gets samey though) Ledisi "Feeling Orange, Sometimes Blue" I class Lewis Taylor's "Lewis II" set as R&B. Don't sleap. Me'Shell - "Bitter" is too melancholy for me, but "Plantation Lullabies" and "Peace Beyond Passion" have some sublime music on them. Tasha's World (ST) - I think she is Dutch but it's as good as anything else. Vivian Green - Vivian
Adriana Evans - nice but nothing special. She seems to have managed to move her hands a few inches between albums though, so progress on the paralysis front.

Keshia Coles is different from Floetry IMO.
I "ride" for her too but both albums are pretty much Paint By Numbers Neo-Soul of its time.
She actually had some more Jazz influences than her peers but I cant hold these joint up as Dope on a whole.
If u think so, Do You.
Hey,
on both the "S/T" and "On the Jungle Floor" joints.
Peace,
Big Stacks from Kakalak

damn, i just grabbed a copy. very nice! anyone got one at more than 128k? my torrent game is weak these days.
I was buying the 12s when they came out, and found the CD already cheap as hell when it was practically a new release - maaaaad slept on
Y'all know about the b-side only joint w/the "Guess Who's Back" beat??
