Right now I'm thinking:Cymande - Dove. 11 minsRare Earth - Get Ready (live). 22 mins (but on -2 at least)Temptations - Papa Was a Rolling Stone. 17 mins.and I was just listening to Tico All Stars - Descarga de cueros, which at 12:30 mins must have the most percussion/cowbell ever committed to wax.

While I was reading this, I was listening to:

Amani - Nat Adderley Sextet - Soul of the Bible LP

and it was gorgeous, as is that entire album.

    For a favorite classic:

City, Country, City - War - World is a Ghetto LP

I was gonna say no concept albums. Specially not Shadow!

There's this japanese rock band around at the moment called Green Milk from Planet Orange. I saw them play a 1 hr set which I found out afterwards was only 2 songs - 40mins & 20mins. They're gonna have to fix that.

Definetely all things Fela and Pharoah. "Creator" is the bomb, but don't sleep on "Elevation". I love when they get back to the initial theme after the freeform part ??? beautiful!!

Also a lot of Miles' stuff from 68-75, especially a track like "He Loved Him Madly" from "Get Up With It". 26 minutes of pure pleasure.

Herbie Hancock "Sextant". The whole LP. Nice and shroomy long tracks.

My Can collection is crap, but "Animal Waves" from "Saw Delight" is long-ass fiyah IMO.

Donny Hathaway's live version of "The Ghetto"

Isaac Hayes' live version of "Ain't No Sunshine"

Airto "O Galho da Roseira Part 1 + 2" from "Seeds On The Ground".

That's a great choice. Although my first pick would have to be 'Trane's "My Favorite Things". I never tire.

I am falling for a big trap here, right? You are not really looking for this!?! But If I could unload a copy to you that'll be nice.
But wait, all my copies are in storage in a different country... The only one I have accessible right now is the white label Motown Promo whoch features a long version (8:43) and an edit (6:49) on the A side and the 10:49 instrumental on the flip.

    http://www.brainwashed.com/godspeed/

I noticed they haven't put a biography up just yet so let me breakdown the group in Guzzospeak,
Godspeed You Black Emperor is a collective of Canadians who do a style of music that has been labeled as "post Rock" mostly instrumental with selected additions of tape loops and spoken word bits collected from crazy homeless folks, and political extremists. The music itself is heavy on strings (group includes an entire string section) as well as electric guitar, drums, and bass.

The basis for their music comes from thier political philospohy of complete anarchy, yet their music is incredibly structured and builds to amazing crecendos before going into freak-out territory.

Think lullaby music soaked in aggressive acid.
