not really in any order. just as i think of them.

    kanye- college dropout

    jay z- black album

    jeezy- thug motivation 101

clipse- hell hath no fury (in my mind, this one was built up more b/c of all the delays in release, and it did not disappoint. well, except for nightmares)

quasimoto- the unseen. i revisited this recently. i remembered why i liked it so much. i'm disappointed this wasn't a sign of good things to come. (remember when madlib used to make rap beats?)

three 6 mafia- most known unknown (swisha house screwed and chopped)- i have no idea. i listen to this thing constantly.

50 Cent- the massacre. yeah, i said it. it's non-active listening. you already know he's gonna say some shit through his teeth about how great he is, how where and why he's going to kill you, and how in touch w/ the skreets he is. it's tired. it's predictable. it's easy and the shit slams. so you can just put it on while you clean your shower or some shit. it's great.

it's been a long day. i can't think of anymore. there are way more than 10 though, and a couple of these would no doubt fall off the list if i sat down and thought about it.
no outkast. they still haven't topped ATLiens in my book.

not feeling most of this list (no offense, they are nice/decent records just being honest - love the ghost and madvillan and pun though) but definitely nice call w/ the Rakim record.

    Not in any particular order...

    Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele
Three 6 Mafia - Da Unbreakables
Eightball and MJG - In Our Lifetime, Vol. 1
    Jay-Z - Blueprint
Turf Talk - The Street Novelist

    YES.

This is near impossible (i'd struggle to do it for the past 5 years) however, an off the dome pick would be:

    Outkast - Aquemini (98)
    Juvenile - 400 Degreez (98)
    Dr Dre - 2001 (99)
    MOP - Warriorz (00)
    TI - Trap Muzik (03)
    Cam'ron - Purple Haze (04)
Young Jeezy - Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (05)
    Killer Mike - I Pledge Allegiance (06)
    Trae - Restless (06)
Turf Talk - West Coast Vaccine (07)

I kinda gave up halfway through when I realised that I couldn't fit them all in and Doomsday and Clipse should definitely be in there. I think I'm going to wince about the ones I've forgotten.

On a side note, I also ride for Wu Tang Forever - it's unarguably too long and has too much filler but there are a hell of a lot of decent tracks on there and I have good memories of playing the shit out of the vinyl when it came out. When taken on it's own merit rather than compared to 36 Chambers it's a very decent album.

this thread did nothing more than show me that most people have horrible taste.

Im surprised by how many cats dig MadVillan. I dont think it really lives up to the imagined collabo. The concept/idea > the actual finished product.
I never listen to it. Ill have to return to it again. The gut feeling is usually the correct feeling.

But 10 albums in the last 10 years is a bit narrow. 1 a year, I can easily make this 15 to 20 albums within this timespan... The other mentions, Clipse, Roots, other Outkast/Jay-Z album(s) are worth mentioning also.

  • Madvillian was OK, except for the Quas verses...I can't listen to that shit.
