well i think the obvious choice would be new zealand, but really the comparison is neither here nor there and youre missing the point.
you stated that americans would be up in arms over such discriminatory practices and im simply saying that our track record on immigration and public responses to such proves otherwise.

A fair few island nations have automatic right of entry into NZ and sort of dual citizenship.... so they're not really emigrating. Having said that the NZ government poors millions into aid schemes for the health sector in those countries and won't give health care to 'em if they can get the same treatment in their home country. They get to their place of residence for long term care. We do seem to have a bnuch of people from all over the world just happen to fly into the country in time to give birth though...
I guess the rub with this is that if you get injured in NZ - be it as a citizen or a visitor - the state pays for your care / rehabilitation.... which means they will fix that broken bit reagrdless of whether you have health insurance. Hell event the Meth cooks get million dollar specialist care when they fry there arses baking that shit.
Just sayin if they can justify not letting in fat people because of the strain on public resources, Some folks in the future might say well we shouldn't let in this type of migrant/refugee because the these statistics say they cost the govt this amount of money for this reason.
Better beleive it... NZ - like all countries - is trying to ensure it can keep it's population healthy - ie low cost. Is there another country out there who isn't? Hell you should try getting into the States as a tourist... that's some mean attitude you cop at border security.
And despite our attempts to pass ourselves of as clean green and tolerant of all nations... NZ has plenty issues around race relations... it's entirely possible some of this is systemic bigotry... but again - show me another country where this ain't a problem.
