So, my Dad is down for my 30th B-day today, and he's poking through my records and pulls out the Blind Faith album with the naked little girl on it. And he says, you know who this is? I said, "yeah, Blind Faith." And he says, "No, On the cover. It's Mopsy."Turns out I know that girl, now woman. When my Dad split at 5 years old, he went and had a kid with another woman. That's like my second family. Mopsy is the sister of my step-mom. I see her every couple years when she comes over from England to visit. I called up to get the story this morning from my step-mom. She said she was approached by this photographer saying he wanted to put her on the cover of this new band Eric Clapton was in. She said everyone wanted to model those days, so she thought she would talk it out with the guy. Once she found out it was going to be a topless shoot, she declined, but it turned out her sister, Mopsy was into it and really wanted some money to get a goat. She got a $100 for the shoot and got her goat. She also said that life was a bit difficult through adolescence because of it, but she's now glad she did it.

They really were simpler times back then.

Man will like this story - he is a fan of this band. Thanks for sharing!

Fascinating story. Given the controversial nature of the cover, I've often wondered about the history behind it.

I'm going to find out more at Thanksgiving when I see her. I'll also snap a photo so we can do a before and after. I only got a quick first thing in the morning story from my step-mom. She hadn't really woken up yet.

As for the goat thing... my step-mom said that Mopsy really wanted a goat, but didn't have the money for it. I guess that was partial incentive. She did use the $100 for a goat.

As for ruining her life, my step-mom did say that it made her life pretty hard for a while. She got a lot of grief from peers. But now, in the end, she's glad she did it as a part of history. She's still a bit of an odd bird.

Isn't this typical 70s UK rock aesthetic? You know that whole surreal forest fairies/pre-pubescent wood nymphs, warlocks and good witches in flowy white gowns thing...

I can't honestly say why the band or the photographer wanted the image. I don't think she had anything to do with the band. I think it was just a photo session with the photographer. I won't really be able to get to the bottom of the story until Thanksgiving. I promise to dig this thread back up when I do and post more. Living in Big Sur for 30 years doesn't do much for the stepmomz memory. I need a first hand account.

    Had to be, really.

Doing something like that to buy a goat is a real late 60s/hippy thing to do.

^this^ doesn't sound like it would be awkward at all

um, Auntie Mopsy, would you mind posing a minute for the camera? Here, hold on to this plane, and, oh- the shirt's gotta go. Don't worry, I'll post it on the internet and you'll be like famous again!

Maybe we'll leave the shirt on. I'm sure they were nicer then. I know there's numerous reasons I shouldn't say that. But at least from a purely aesthetic standpoint. I realized I have some wedding photos of her I will try to dig up later today.

GOAT story! This may become the GOAT thread!

Please to see if she has out takes from the photo session. G rated only please.

I remember when you had to get the UK import to get this cover and it was very rare and expensive in the states. Then the Mopsy cover was reissued and also imported in bulk. Everyone got their child porn on. Now that cover is far more common around these parts than the original censored US cover.
