"T.R.O.Y" in tribute to Trouble T-Troy - can't believe nobody said that already.
I think this one breaks the "bad tribute song" curse, no?
Unlike, say, "Miss American Pie."
I'll listen to "Hillbilly Heaven," "Soul Heaven" or "A Tribute To A King" quicker than "American Pie."
I don't see what all the big ruckus is over certain tribute songs "not being that good." When you talk about songs in that category, there IS going to be some kitsch involved half the time, so deal with it.
And crank up "The King Is Gone" (Ronnie McDowell's Elvis tribute) till moss grows on the needle.

By candlelight my hand will write these rhymes 'til I'm burnt out Mostly from experience, shit that I learned about Topics and views, generally concerned about With different ways to come up and earn clout I take a look at my life and pace the trails From Tablik and savage females With fake nails to face veils You out your frame but still baggin' 'em too You know I know These ho's be asking me if I'm you Like my twin brother we did everything together From hundred-record sellers to coppin butter leathers Remember when you went and got the dark blue Ballys? I had all the different color Cazals and Gazelles The Subroc three finger ring with the Ruby in the O, Ock Truly the illest dynamic duo on the whole block I keep a flick of you with the machete sword in your hand Everything is going according to plan man

Cool. The OG by G.C. Cameron[/b] isnt a Tribute song if i recall. Its from the Cooley High Soundtrack.
And if you remember, it was played in the movie right after Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs' character (Cochise?) died, during the funeral scene.
To this day, that Beatdown always confuses me. They beat him down and one of the last punches makes him spin into the steel Subway column? So he dies of a concussion?
The scene is a bit tenuous, but Cochise coulda died from a brain hemorrhage on that one. I couldn't find a good scene from Cooley High (other than the gorilla shit scene), so I thought I'd throw this on here instead:

William Bell wrote that one for Otis Redding.

While searching for this, I came across:
Bobby Harris "We can't believe you're gone" (Atlantic) 45
Which is apparently a Sam Cooke trib.
