  • Here's a dub mix I did a while back...

    Dubbing Inna Village Style

  • Thought I would post a couple of Hugh Mundell tracks for the small but dedicated Soulstrut reggae massive. I may post an 80's digi mix I made in a bit, just to get further afield of what most folks are into here

Jonny, is this your waxing deep set or a different mix?

  • No this is a different set.

  • Here's some filthy ska slackness, it's a blank & i haven't been able to track down the matrix so I haven't a clue what it is.

ras nachum at the controls !?!
really nice stuff, did the bionic dub get a trot in there anywhere?
good looks with the cry tough too - a friend of mine made a smoking beat from that (Treasure Isle styles) a few years back but the dub never saw the light of day
look forward to giving the mix a run this coming summer on the sound system I copped from the bay yesterday,

anyone do any good lovers rock/rocksteady shit? Of any era really, I'm really enjoying this duke reid comp and would love something along those lines. (or more recent)

  • i gotta add something after digging all this...

here go this monk-one mix we put out a few years back, peace:

    Rockers Showcase

  • no dub tho

There is a real nice instrumental version of that tune on the Jolly label.

"Cool it with reggae" by Joe Nolan. Wicked tune.

Personally like the inst version much better. Yvonne Harrison has a great voice but i prefer her Take my hand/The Chase Caltone 7" to this one.

Keith Calnek a.k.a Ken Lack was mos definitely that dude.

this was also very nice, thanks!

  • Serious music being posted. Love the Rockers Showcase, great funky Jamaican music and mixed really well.

Was trying to find some rocksteady lying around to respond to deej, but I couldn't come up with any.

I do have a couple of great Studio 1 cuts, one early Burning Spear tune and Delroy Wilson on the same riddim during the later 70's when Dodd was reviving the old stuff.

Definitely rather fun, Monk's that dude. Got to get to the others tomorrow.

  • A couple of Jackie Studio 1's....

and a couple of mid 70's Skatalites tunes...

    Enjoy.

  • Thanks DigDug and others for listening and bigging up, helps motivate me to get going on volume 2.

Listened to Johnny's dub mix today while packing records, really good stuff. The Skatalites tunes are nice too, especially Jumbo Malt. I dig African Roots off that 70's album as well.

Here's three more quality roots tracks from around 1980 -

It's Up To You - Tetrack

    Might Ruler - Bim Sherman

Free Up The Sensimilla - Cornell Campbell

  • Props to all the mixes and tunes posted here.....

    They are all FIYA.

    Reggae is KING, Fe real.
