So I had to do some curriculum development with other 10th grade folks today. One point of contention was over Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar." I want to keep my 10th grade World Lit. class away from Western Literature, since nearly everything else that will be read during high school and beyond will be Western. For whatever reason, Shakespeare was made a hill to die on so I have to come up with my own plan on what to teach during the "Drama Unit".What are some good plays written by South Americans, Central Americans, Africans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, etc.? I don't want any non-white, American immigrant stuff, either, since that will be covered in American Lit..Thanks for any suggestions.

This is quintessentially Australian, and deals with issues that are pretty relevant to that age group. Still western, but at least a little different.
My boy played the lead in a national tour last year.
