that kill it?the criteria being"All 45s" [or at least 90%] and in a mix not a "comp"I know dudes hate when I bring up josh& luke in general[delay rolls his eyes....again] and use their first names instead of...."Cut Chemist" and Dj Shadow" but I don't give a Fuck.but seriously what 45 mixes have been as on point since?I thought those mixes would have set off a generation of punters....but its kinda quiet out there.I think on track Vol #5 was brilliant but its not all 45s and it doesn't sound "all Live"[I'm sure I'll be correc-ted if I am wrong}I think the aeiou mixes were genius but they were studio creations with overdubs and not all 45s[sup triple X 2]I love Paul Nice's "breaks for Days" but it ain't all 45sAll of the Soulman joints were amazng but not strictly 45swhich leads to that interview he did with Legend in Big Daddy where legend stated that josh and Luke were good but not great[aside from some racial shit -no comment] and that he could do a better all 45 mix -no dis at all.... but I am still waiting....So what Am I missing on the 45 mix scene?Don't tell me it started and ended with Brainfreeze and Product placement......can o worms ?12 pager or doomed to 10 replies?I got questionsSOULSTRUT HAS ANSWERS BATCHESDIsTHCUSST

Not heavily mixed, but not a straight comp, either.
who made that, and what's their real name?
didn't Jared from TSL have some 45 mixes as well!?!
let's see - DJ's B-Cause and Matthew Africa,
known on Soul Strut as Peaceful Rotation and
Mongo Slade, and their real names are Jos* and
um, I guess, Matt?
Also know he's working on a new "Live at the Get Back" mix
He's actually done at least 2 of these, and I prefer the second.... .45 Caliber Funk, I believe, are the names.
They are both FUEGO, no doubt.
Yes, great mix indeed.
IMO Product Placement & Brainfreeze are two of the greatest DJ mixes of all time. Who else is recreating Pete Rock and Cold Chillin beats live with just 45s, or opening up a set with East of Underground? 4 copies playing at one time? Check.
I think the reason there haven't been a grip of similar mixes is that there aren't that many DJs with that kind of skills, records, and taste. Especially willing to do something different, and really put something new on the table. I'm sure some people on this board could put together some dope material too (or already have, and I don't know). But the level of DJing on Product Placement/Brainfreeze is really hard to match.
I dig DJ Ferrari's (where you at I*an?) Forty Fivan mix too. You should all listen to it, and then bother him about this alleged international mix in the works, cause it will be dope.
most of vol 5 was live. its just a pain in the ass rocking 300 records straight thru. mistakes happen.
trans euro express was live. fish fry was live, bbe shit is live.
i was told its not a "comp" if its mixed !?!
it is indeed hot as hell's August without AC.
DJ Cash Money has a pretty damn serious 45 mix too..
can we get an all mp3s mix where heads dont even own the vinyl ?
still, didnt think it was anywhere near as good as brainfreeze. the cooking with gas shit is straight up obnoxious (i actually like slurp). but its still a lot of fun.
where/how do they use east of underground?? there were 45s of that?
soul boulders is dddope! misissippi mudd is craaazy.
id love to hear some of those other mixes people are talkin about.
thanks to all those mentioned whose joints i heard.
No 45s, it's the one 12-inch they use in Product Placement. It's the intro, the "control your soul, take you higher" part. The Popcorn is also used as the music for the DVD menu, and they mention that the one 12-inch they use is an army record (but don't say anything else obviously).
the shit id love to have is that jd Green (sp?)- Time 45...that shit is extra nice
Thanks homie... been crazy busy this summer with work and travel. Went to my sixth of nine weddings for the season this weekend. Only 3 more to go!
DJ Ferrari - Forty Fivan Vol 2
Oh yeah... international psych/funk mix CD coming soon I promise!
lighten up francis
The latest is called: Somethin' That Means Somethin' , a guest mix I did for Souled On Music. The mixes are stuff I feel, no Cut and Shadow tricks (that's for the professionals).
There is another one not listed, a joint mix with DJ Bluewater called: Heavy Crates .
Track listing and cover art is on specific page if you search for original post, or available through PM.
Several of my radio shows & mixes have been all 45s. But, I don't really care about beatmatching/mixing anymore. I just try to make sure it doesn't sound jarring. In fact, I often go out of my way to NOT mix 45s cause I want to hear the beginning & ending of the tracks.
Here is the most recent all 45 show:
