Freelance magazine design. (cover,layout,etc) $$$

Who here..while doing their thang,freelance style..has worked for magazines doing cover design as well as laying out the whole fucking thing? I have the opp., but have NO clue what to charge for that shit. They are wanting me to email my rates asap, but I am reluctant until I hear some other opinions on it. Small indie style hip hop magazine that focuses on South and North Cack..obviously a small budget after seeing a previous issue(yuck!)...24 pages total..head to toe design/graphics/layout,etc(including cover and back cover design as well).
