40 YOV had a stronger lead but was a complete mess of a film.
Its been a good while since I saw 40YOV but from what I remember I'm quite sure that it wasn't close to the same level of funny as SB, regardless of editing (in fact I have a vague recollection of my girl and I being offended by a long, shitty ending for 40YOV).

I would tend to agree, I found it alot easier to sit through a second screening of knocked up than the couple of times i've tried to watch 40 YOV again. The pace of both films is pretty off though - and from what people have said Superbad seems to be the same.

The dick-drawing bits were hilarious.
I was pleasantly surprised by the use of a fairly obscure late-70's Curtis Mayfield ballad ("PS I Love You") during the last scene.
I thought Superbad was awesome.
