A podcast is a feed url that references an mp3 file. The feed is like a document that has code and the mp3 link.
People subscribe to that feed in their itunes or podcatcher of choice. When the podcast author updates your show, your itunes, etc, will automatically download for you so it will be waiting, with a bow, to listen to at your convenience.
