So does the term "polishing a turd" refer to a good record in crappy condition, polishing a crappy record in good condition, or something else completely?Thanks for the help, i think i might be polishing turds.

    i dont think that the expression is record related, I'm pretty sure it warns against wasting time on fruitless efforts.


    btw, I asked someone today if they were familiar with " putting a silk dress on a pig" . they were not.
