Usually the best ones to me are the ones that don't even make a big deal about being able to do all that shit.

    Lord Finesse
    Pharrell
    Andre3000
    Havoc
    Dr Dre
    Jay Dee
    Wyclef
    Q-Tip
Eminem (really don't feel his beats, but there seem to be alot of people that do)

    aand...
Scotty Matelic (kills it on the faux-gay freestyle tip, better ask somebody)

(Yo, kids got dubs of your tapes givin you pounds, man)
Tell em eat a dick until they give a nigga SoundScan
(Haha, aight) But let me flip the subject
To rappers rockin wife beaters and barely weigh a buck wet
Y'all need to eat a steak or something, fuck it, put some weight on
Saw _Menace_ and wanna get your Larenz Tate on
SP's to Cubase to Dr. Rhythm basics
My beats are so fat cans have botulism cases
Punk, you must be dumb, that's a ass whippin in a can
And rubbers make me numb, so I can never be a Minute Man
Crusin on a date, pumpin Bushwick Bill
And I'm over due for a shape-up but I push dick still
BEST PRODUCER ON THE MIC? Ah-ah, never claimed it
Money, fuck it, I'ma be him though till someone come and take it from me

i think a reasonable way to evaluate this post is to put more signifiance towards the mcing ability, i dont think its about great producers who happen to rap. a few mentioned are phenomenal producers but mc wise aren't stellar.... again as mentioned its all subjective, but putting more weight on the mc ability, id say rza has to be way up there, no one sounds like him and his lyrics go deep...production wise, i like the fact that with someone like him, he won't sound the same after every 5 year period.

Co-sign. Rza is definitely someone who is balanced. I haven't heard anything recent from him. Is his run over. I just purchased a new Large Professor single.

Forgot about J-Zone..."Pumpin' ICE ICE BABY you think I give a fuck better than the shit I heard lately." Or was that Sugar Bear or whatever his name is.

Got to give it up for J-Zone. Technically much stronger on the beats than the rhymes, but he's got enough personality to match it.

Of the older cats I'd say the Biz. Love his soulful slo-mo beats. Or Rakim. He did some insane shit with the jazz, especially on "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em" and "Don't Sweat The Technique".

Jay Dee. Like his thuggish simpledimple party style. Nofrills and nobullshit so even a dunce like me can understand it. Don't even get me started on his beats.

A lot of the Dungeon Family cats (Boi, Dre, Cee-Lo) definetely got skills in both departments.

And oh yeah ??? Pharrell is poopoo on the mic. (Often) dope beats. Weak raps.
