If this was like 4 years ago I would of been ,like, "STEP OFF THAT LP IS HEAT!" but now I realised i've never listened to anything beyond mystic brew on that LP.

Is there supposed to be a comma in your response? Dudes seem to grip the Satin Doll though.
I will say only that I have seen it on the walls of certain finer NYC record emporia and that it has subsequently disappeared, implying grippage (pron. "grip-pozh").
The liner notes/personnel/concept make it seem like it would be at least an interesting record, but I can't get into it.

As in "Découpage"?
I could picture Sabadabada driving to the Hamptons in a Miata very early on a Saturday morning, balzing this. No traffic, dew-kissed asphalt, backless driving gloves.
i dont doubt you. what are some personal least favorites?
personally i havent found too much on the label thats very thrilling. then again i pretty much only have mid60s-mid 70s stuff which im sure wasnt their time to shine.

Seriously, like 98% of the funky ones are really lame. And I am speaking as a former owner of like 80 Lou Donaldson records. I also cannot think of one 70's release I'll ride for. Smooth Mizzell Bros proto-dentist chair funk. No thank you. Places and Spaces is the ultimate ass burn fest. There is hella crappy records on Blue Note. I'm sorry, but this is the truth.

We've been through this before, and I'm not ready to have it out again, but Blue Note hate has to be the ultimate post-modern jaded digger affliction imaginable. Of course there's crappy records on there - they put out an overwhelming amount of product, and got caught trying to be commercial when the best jazz was going the other direction in the late 60's-mid-70's - but they have a discography that is mind-melting in volume & quality.
And I'm sorry, alot of the so-called "funky" stuff IS good, Grant Green, Larry Young, Bobby Hutcherson, Reuben Wilson, Lonnie Smith, Jack McDuff - all have solid soulful/funky jazz releases that are far from crap. Even Sweet Lou has a couple of good late-60's ones, and his earlier work for the label is outstanding.

Despite the fact that this record doesn't live up to its billing or concept, it's far from the worst on the label.
Comments
as deep as ive ventured Noel can bring some disco
fiddler on the roof..
Why are dudes gripping this one?
It's actually not that bad. This one is, though:
I seem to remember "Sassy Soul Strut" being a snoozer.
