    Janko Nilovic - Soul Impressions...

This name has been somewhat of a mystery to me from my early digging notes. I had jotted down only Janko N_ something or other when a friend was taking me to the breaks.

that was a long time ago. I'd like to hear what its all about now that I know what it is.

Israel vibrations has to be one of my favorite reggae groups of all time! Seeing them live is serious inspiration!

Have you heard their "vibes" series?
The interviews and versions are seriously nice!

Skelly vibes is my favorite out of the three.

They are one of my favorite live acts as well. Do they still tour? They had split a few times due to illness in such in the late 90's and early ots. I have seen them a handful of times altogether and just the 2. ( i think apple had left and come back at one point)

I have some great pics from some fests. in my teens.

I havent heard the Vibes series, sounds dope..I will have to look into it.

'New Wave' is the track I ride for. Found this on Youtube last night looking for jpegs. Doesnt really do the song justice though.

Didn't go home last night - crashed at someone else's house after hanging out at a local festival - but the last record on the turntable before I left the house was a 45 of Stevie Wonder's "I'm Wondering."

hell yeah, crutch dancin for days. I shared a spliff with doods at Sierra Nevada festival in Nor-Cal back in like... 2002 i think. I might be confusing them with abbyssinians though- memory of event is obviously hazy.

Right now I got on TOQUINHO - S/T

  • some serious niceness:

Gideon and Power - I Gotta Be Me.

Oh man, that LP is indeed terrible.

Even the Dusty Groove website had to come right out and admit this LP was a dog (when they had it)...

I've got Ira Williams's "Long Lonely Night" (IV God's Glory) on the platter. What a pleasant surprise. Before that, it was The Soul Inspirers Of Detroit, Mighigan with "Oh Thou" on D-Town's venerable Designer label. The latter is from 1971 and features the lowest bass vocal I've ever heard. Ever. The former is a lengthy, meandering solo piano/vocal piece that carries a great late-evening spiritual feel. From 1978, but timeless as Heaven itself.

JP: I snagged the sealed Prince Dixon LP. Thanks for the heads-up.

Little Rose & Company - Jamming to the Bone
    Nostalgia 77 - Little Steps
Meaty Ogre - Acarne, or Asarne or something on Bully; that track with the bongos and seriously deep sub-bass (1847 Wood?) is great

Wajeed (poss Carl Craig co-production?) - Tron from the War EP
Bebel Gilberto - Where Did The Love Go? Prins Thomas mixes
Mixrace & Pro-Ton-Isospace - Kings; oldskool jungle on Timeless
Lowrell - Mellow Mellow Right On; muthaf*cker
Nightmares On Wax - Inna Space, Outa Sound; was a slow burner for me, but I'm really enjoying the space dude manages to leave in his music
