shit, this is being linked all over the place. thats whats cool about divshare, you can see where there are direct links being clicked.
I forgot to say that I'm feeling this too. One of two of the songs are a little unfamiliar, in that they weren't hits in the UK (Benny Mardones, Robbie Dupree, Paul Davis), but otherwise it's all-the-way mellow.
plaese to include the Fogelburg golden nugget "Same Auld Lang Syne" on a future volume!
this is the music me and my friends used to call Beard Rock. But Yacht Rock is more accurate.
this collection is KEY and yes i ordered it from time life right after seeing the ad on late night tv some years back..
1. This Is It Kenny Loggins 2. Ride Like The Wind Christopher Cross 3. I Keep Forgettin' Michael McDonald 4. Reminiscing Little River Band 5. Biggest Part Of Me Ambrosia 6. These tracks caused me to have a noticably hoarse voice after a long car ride full of lyric screaming. Extra points go to Banny Mardones, Alan Parsons Project, Steve Perry, and Paul Davis for the rewinds.
plaese to include the Fogelburg golden nugget "Same Auld Lang Syne" on a future volume!
Oh yes. I threw that jammie on a recent mix. I also suggest Randy VanWarmer's "You left me just when I needed you most".
So I'm now up to 5 cds worth of this goodness. I'll upload them all when I get a chance. This stuff has been killing my town. An AM Gold night is in the works. DJs ... this vinyl is sooooo easy to collect. Talk about non-raers. If you have a club you can work at, set up an AM Gold night. Spin these babies out and supply a microphone so that people can come up and make asses of themselves singing along. F**k a karaoke. AM Gold sing-alongs are where its at.
This stuff is just so damned fun. I have mixes with names like: "Cabana Members Only", "Sail on Portwear", "Your Dinghy or Mine?", "Gazing Portside". And it never ends. Check out the Soft Rock list on Wikipedia. Check out the Yacht Rock song list. Never ending.
My band is doing an amazing cover Stop Draggin My Heart Around (Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks) with my friend Sara from Brazen Hussy doing Stevie's part. It's so damned satisfying.
Credit goes to Jaymack for many of the songs in, I believe, volume 3 (though we were on the same wavelength with that 10cc jam). I steal song ideas from anywhere I can, so I don't claim "credit" for any of this. Just moving the goods.

great comps snaggle. now i dont have to do a volume 2. like george costanza, i can bow out on a good note.
Thanks. Of course, as yours is an actual mix, I rate it much higher than these little comps (some of which robbed your mix for song ideas to begin with).
But my friends just keep draggin' these things out of me. SoulStrut is getting the fruit of my grilling partners' insatiable appetites for lite rock. They do provide me with a lot of valuable requests though ... "Same Auld Lang Syne", "Turn Your Love Around", "Stay With Me Tonight", "Stop Draggin My Heart Around".
The one song that I didn't know has actually become one of my favorites: Rupert Holmes - Him. It starts off innocently enough, but those choruses are absolute killers. Great song. But it will get stuck in your head.

I sent this mix to a friend of mine in Texas, he told me put this on the other night, got toasted in his house alone while wifey was away, finally came to his senses after minutes of vegetating, and said what the F*ck is playing! He loved it, he said the mix hit him in the moment.

I've always liked that song. Makes me feel like a cheesy beer commercial. I've never heard the LP though.
Hell yes. I may have to throw that one on volume 6, actually. Yeah ... this never ends.
