This guy really is something else. He's a genuine conservative candidate with a healthy dose of common sense. Which seems to be rare among presidential candidates.I know most people on this site are democrats, but i was wondering if there is any support here for Ron paul.

The folks I talk to here in Texas support him first and foremost because of this...

This is my six point plan for Immigration Reform & Border Security:

Physically secure our borders and coastlines.[/b] We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.

Enforce visa rules.[/b] Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.

No amnesty.[/b] Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That???s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.

No welfare for illegal aliens[/b] . Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.

End birthright citizenship [/b] . As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.

Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods. [/b]

Either Hillary or Ron will have my vote.

  • Man, the more I see about this guy the more I love him. Common sense, intelligence, experience, guts and his ability to deal with Fox News (I love how he simply rephrases all their questions so he highlights the important issues).

He made Mike Huckabee look like a total ass.

  • IMO, Barack Obama and Ron Paul are the only candidates who make the American Dream seem alive and well.

This just seems like boilerplate Republican bullshit. All the GOP candidates probably would agree with this stuff. Does it have any correlation to reality or a pragmatic solution? Sorry, no.

I'll admit I don't know enough on Obama to make a fair comparison. What I've seen of Clinton doesn't impress me much at all. I'm not sure why she's getting so much support. Is it because people expect that Bill Clinton will be running the country in the backseat?

  • Anyway, dude is polling at 2 percent. What's next, a Dennis Kucinich thread?

I just looked at five national polls and they all had him at 1-3 percent.

    What's your answer?

    A global anticapitalist, antiauthoritarian revolution.
