Anyone know where I can get the nice thick "old style" jackets printed for lp's? I'm considering doing a limited (300 or 450) reissue and I'd like to deluxe it up like Shadoks, World In Sound or even Time Lag. Any idea's? Even gatefold? Same with CD's. I'd like to make this a nice looking as possible. thanks in advance

Stoughton Press (sp?) is the only one in the US that still does them I believe.
They call them tip-on covers or some such. Pretty damn expensive.
I have their info and price sheet somewhere I'll try to find, it's been a while since I talked to them.

Yup they're called "tip-in" and they are not cheap. By not cheap I mean more expensive than the vinyl that goes in it. Here is the info I have on file, from a Stoughton quote request:

    1/C - 3/C 12" TIP-ON JACKET:
    1,000 pieces @ $ 1,570.00 / M pcs
ADDITIONAL ONETIME CHARGE FOR PREPRESS AND PROOF @ $ 105.00!

    4/C 12" TIP-ON JACKET:
    1,000 pieces @ $ 1,705.00 / M pcs.
ADDITIONAL ONETIME CHARGE FOR PREPRESS AND PROOF @ $ 155.00!

4/C SINGLE POCKET TIP-ON GATEFOLD JACKET:
    1,000 pieces @ $ 2,105.00 / M pcs
    ADDITIONAL SET-UP FEE FOR SINGLE POCKET @ $ 80.00 / LOT!
ADDITIONAL ONETIME CHARGE FOR PREPRESS AND PROOF @ $ 225.00!

4/C DOUBLE POCKET TIP-ON GATEFOLD JACKET:
    1,000 pieces @ $ 2,055.00 / M pcs
ADDITIONAL ONETIME CHARGE FOR PREPRESS AND PROOF @ $ 225.00!

ABOVE PRICES BASED ON CUSTOMER SUPPLIED ART.PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE
FREIGHT CHARGES OUTSIDE OF THE L.A. AREA!

This is actually a pretty good price for the quality. Those Ross Ellis jackets are garbage. Once you go Stoughton you never go back.

Yeah, 1000 count prices aren't bad. But if you're looking to do a run of 500 it gets killer.

BTW they will split the order (500 of one, 500 of another) but it is not cheap. I can provide details on this if you're curious, or just ask for Dave and he will help you out.
