Eleanor Rigby - Don "Sugarcane" Harris (more jazz/rock fusion, but ... )
Good Day Sunshine - Roy Redman (from UK OST "The Touchables")
And, of course: Gene Chandler, Jackie Wilson & Erma Franklin all cut versions of "Eleanor Rigby" over the same backing track[/b] for Brunswick Records in 1968!
Good Day Sunshine - Roy Redman how is this version??
Bar-Kays is on "Gotta Groove," their best LP, IMO - it also has a version of "Yesterday."
Roy Redman is pretty good, mellow, with a shuffling beat I would normally associate with New Orleans, although I think he is from the UK, as it is on the soundtrack to a British film, "The Touchables" and every other artist on there - Nirvana, Ferris Wheel, Wynder K. Frog - are from the UK.
I realize getting into jazz folks is opening a huge can of covers, but I have to say that R Lewis's Julia makes my heart flutter every time (Thank You SoulonIce).

Really good, although I was hoping he'd have kept it at the original tempo rather than slowing it down.
Had he done it midtempo like the Beatles did, coming from a soul singer it probably would have been a Carolina beach music classic.
