Lime for me but lemon seems to be more versatile.

Lime - for the lack of seeds alone.

Limes also smell better and have a more subtle taste that adapt to and enhance their accompanying foods.

Wash some limes, dry them thoroughly in the sun over a summer or in a window (keep them dry) and throw them into a stew and let the flavour ride begin. Especially splitting one open and eating the insides after is has softened.
    Oh.My.Goodness.

hmmmm, interesting, but I'm no good at planning ahead like that

Limes are really good with a lot of savory stuff. Even makes sliced cucumbers yummy (with rock salt). Also on mango with chili powder. And my drink this past week has been Negra Modelo over ice w/ 4-6 lime wedges, muddled if you have the time.

Can't beat a bit of chilly lemon mousse though on a hot evening though.

this is true, lemons are waaaay better for desserts. and lemon zest works much better than lime zest.

yet a caesar with just lime is fine, but with just lemon falls flat.

and salsa or guac with lemon is unspeakable.

    lime wins.

ps. nothing is more maddening than a dry lime...you try to pick a soft one cause you know 9 times out of 10 the hard ones are useless and you think you've done right and you squeeze and squeeze and nothing. ahhhhgggg.

    lime wins.

Let's not forget margaritas, or, if any of you roll this way, a squeeze of lime on your burrito.

Bonus - artificial lime-flavored candy sons artificial lemon-flavored candy. Even the fake stuff takes the cake.

You are right, one more point for the lemon. But it's still a bit of a blowout.

and lemon ice > lime popsicle

Whoa! Next you'll ask me to choose between James Baldwin and Curtis Mayfield.

Can't choose - they each rule their respective domains.

Navel vs blood, yellow grapefruit vs red grapfruit, OK, but not one of each!

Depends. If you a maknig anything non-European influenced, more times than not lemon is solid. But anythign of Asian/Hispanic/African influence, limes no question.
