Ha! I don't usually get to start these, butstuff has been piling up for a week & 1/2, andI don't see one already up and running andI wanted to take some pix ... besides, I alreadyposted it over at weirdsuckyrecordermy some cheep stuff:Camp has a great band and production for some solid folk/pop,Herd is a bit of a terd, Peter Green is all over the Memphis Slim.Local Boston post-Parliament funk from Prince Charles, who had 3 LP's in the early 80's and now teaches at Berklee and had a handin much of the most popular Bad Boy material like B.I.G., Mary J, etc.The songs on the Spider-Man record may very well be the worstmusic ever recorded by anyone, anywhere ... but it has the poster some cheep, some not-so-cheep:Marianne does Donovan, Brits do rural rock, san fran hippiesdo Wabash Cannonball, Julian Cope does Scott Walker, Big Maybelledoes the Troggs ... haven't had the ATL since I lost my bought-when-newcassette a decade ago - what a great album, as good as the D.O.C.which it resembkes more than a little bit in sound ... nice clean OGof the Dream Syndicate album which SHREDS SHREDS SHREDSand a special shout-out to F**d for the pristine latin raers hook-up!

yeah, nice pick up on the Latin Blues Band...weren't that a grail for you?
in the mail on friday. Ive listened to it A LOT of times since yesterday. The album is . My far my favorite non-fusion jazz album I have heard yet.
Meters- Live At Rozy's (one of the highlights being a Freebird-type demand being made by an audience member in the form of "Mardi Gras Mambo")
Chubby Checker- Slow Twistin' (couldn't help but give this one a shot after hearing it on SOI's Lost & Found awhile back)
...and finally got back one of my heatrocks: Tullio Di Piscopo Suonando La Batteria Moderna. I know, I should be fine with giving up an lp for charity, but it's good to get it back all the same.
valerie & nick - i'll find you/lonely town [glover]
patti austin - i wanna be loved/a most unusual boy [coral]
dee dee sharp - what kind of lady/you're gonna miss me (when i'm gone) [gamble]
Yeah, that was nice to grab, especially so unexpectedly.
I am a big fan of Speed - I celebrate their entire catalog
Alice, it's a NYC latin album with a few great boogaloo tracks
that are meant to be "hip" - it is nowhere near as psychedelic
as the cover or liner notes (or Dusty Groove's description )
would want you to believe, but still a fantastic record and
the minty mono OG was a welcome addition to the stacks.
I'm all about the weedhead anthem "Lay an OZ on Me Baby"
Metropol "3" fuzzed out Romanian riffage
Locomotiv GT "BUmmmmmmmmm" not their best, but Hungarian funky rock jernts arent necessarliy waiting around every corner 'round these parts...plus it was cheap
That record is cool. Poorly recorded audience noise funk rare!
caught a bunch of stuff, this was the highlight, still in shrink
(image is not my copy)

Stumbled in on one of the nicest hauls of local NZ press soul LPs I've seen in a while, so I got to upgrade a couple of things & fill some gaps in my Wilson Pickett collection I wasn't expecting to find a clean Marlena Shaw for cheap when I woke up this morning. Lapsed & bought the Sister Funk & Bob & Gene reissues too. Can't wait to listen to them.

Nice finds everybody, especially SoulOnIce is with the Johnny Zamot and the Latin Blues Band. I never managed to score the "take a trip pussycat" LP and it's always been on top of my boogaloo wantlist. Increadible record, one of the best of the Genre and probably the one with the most unbelievable lyrics. Should be fun to play this out!
i think i got $200 for that record, although i don't think it is a $200 record normally.
I thought I was done buying records for the weekend,
but the new arrivals at a local spot were all blown up
and had me cleaning out the wallet:
Those 2 reggae joints are the Dennis Brown with Niney shit is ill!
Cover is um "vg" on the Humphrey but it was priced right.
No clue what the deal is on the JA presses - the Dennis Brown is
an Observer label in a Sonic Sounds sleeve ... Sugar has the red/yellow
NYC label and a poor lithograph, but should be an old pressing based
on the rest of the collection.
