disco recommendations

i was djing a house party last night and the limited disco selection i had with me was producing a high energy dance response every time i put it down - stuff like b.t. express, jorge ben 'africa brasil,' and the whatnauts 'help is on the way' - so that by the end of the night it made me realize that i wish i had more of a selection to choose from. hence i ask:what's some disco recommendations y'all have to offer? singles or lps. raer or common. to me it's always been a fine line w/ a bunch of this stuff between what is the shit and what is shit. i suppose all genres can tend to be subjective in terms of quality, but disco really strikes me as being a genre built upon personal taste. so, again, what disco are y'all into?

Sure there are a few things that don't fit and some that should be added, but if you made it down to #688 out of 700 before taking issue with it, I'd say it's a pretty good list of disco classics. It's the most comprehensive list I've ever seen.

  • T-Connection "do what you want to do"
    Cerrone "supernature"
    Anita Ward "ring my bell"
    etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, I like it anyway..."supernature" is a great disco tune and there is another tune that is slow and spacey that is cool, but I forget the name...Doesn't beat my doubles of "rocket in the pocket" though!!!

try to differentiate between the 8ball string washed post hustle taint slippers and the speedball pre-house razor re-edits. somewhere between Moroder and Tee Scott. also watch out for dudes who can rap for 25 minutes.

dunno, just struck me as a LES/italo joint. normally they are more campy than good. but dont get me wrong, i really like this.

dude i said 'serious q' cuz i'm curious! i get it when yr talking about shit like arthur russell ("you say not only does he do avant-garde art disco but he's white too??") or, like, ESG ('rock band!') but i don't see how this is more white belt than, like, any moroder or whatever

im trying to give you a serious answer man!

its the campy, retrofuturistic delorean vibe that seems or at least was a fade. not sure how else to put it.

and just to clarify, i dont think loose joints is fade-y. that is just good music.
