Lebowski is my least favorite Coen Brothers movie. (haven't seen Ladykillers)
Hate me now.
You are dead to me. I have no SoulOnIce.
This is why I generally don't tell people how I feel about TBL.
It's like telling people you hate Jesus or something.
"If you aren't with Lebowski, you are with the terrorists!"
I'm just funnin'! I really don't judge people by their movie loves.
It's funny, though, because I think when I saw TBL on it's initial release, I was just unprepared for it, I heard no hype, would never really consider myself a Coen Bros fan, but it hit me immediately. It's not any one thing, but I guess I see something completely different from what you saw, which is what is so great about movies, really!

Yeah, I thought TBL was cheap & vacant. It had a cool esthetic & some funny characters but was devoid of substance. Totally dull. I spent half of it laughing at how crappy & contrived it was.
I like even his bad movies. Wes Anderson has major daddy issues though. Not sure that angle has been explored but in every one of his films, most of the fathers have either been gone or complete assholes.
well yeah i guess...except for Rushmore of course, where the main character's dad is very present and very non-assholish.
If you didn't like Raising Arizona then odds are pretty good I don't like you.
the life aquatic sucked such a huge pair of balls...great, wes. So you can make neat set pieces...how about we go back to making a movie? he seems like he is dangerously close to becoming a set designer rather than a filmmaker.
CLOONEY clocked Russell b/c he was berating some intern a la Tomlin for the umpteenth time during the shooting of KINGS. He had had enough, told Russell to chill. Russell tried to flex and got handled by george. I think that clip says everything you need to know about russell, who has made one great film (Flirting with Disaster) and a bunch of terdz. Soderbergh and Clooney have one rule on thier films, no assholes, which i think must be a hollywood first. Since earning the right to be an asshole seems like a big time hollywood milestone.
Ian you wrong about a bunch of things in this thread but I can't remember which now cause this thread is so fucking long. hahaha. I like the first two wes anderson movies and many of the cohen comedies. I think i need to revisit blood simple, though.
Birdman I had the same lebowski experience. In fact it got a lot of bad reviews. I walked out thinking that it was pretty fucking funny for a crappy movie.

Dude, even I don't remember half of what I've said in this thread.
Give me a call so we can get the table thing worked out.

Kane , even on the least of it's merits > Any Cohen Bros Movie
and my fave movie is The Big Lebowski, but GOAT is GOAT.
And I am OK with you being high....
Did someone say "Existential?"
Lebowski is crazily overrated. A good *** movie, but Jesus.
...and see the OG Ladykillers (w/ Alec Guiness) instead.
Looks like: Peter Sellers is Peter Sellers in a film by Peter Sellers.
I wonder if R.D. Burman or Ananda Shankar will be musically featured. Or maybe Pandit Pran Nath.

Py LaMonte Young $50,000,000 and he'll hook you up.

Thanks, but I paid $1 for this one (thrift store b-bingo b-bango):
(not my image)
soundtrack would be worth the movie alone. Mark Mothersbaugh kills it.
i like bottle rocket.
Bergman definitely does not belong in this thread.
Things that you should not take advice from most strutters on...
Shoes
Rock Music

But that magazine cover:
I'd love to have that up in the crib.
