Show #39! A little bit of everything - seriously! You want soul, you got soul - Alice Clark, Rhetta Hughes, Nina Simone... you want funk, you got it! Toni Tornado, Ann Sexton, Max Infinity... you want international grooves - check Frankie Zhivago, Marcos Valle, and Alex Konadu... and there's a whole set of latin tracks in there, too - Charlie Palmieri, Jack Costanzo, and Los Caracoles... and there's Canada's Kathryn Moses, who doesn't fit into any of those categories! For open-minded grooves, check this show out!IF IT ROTATESFrankie Zhivago - I'm YoursToni Tornado -BochechudaMax Infinity - Love Makes a Better World (Part 1)Ann Sexton - You're Losing MeAlice Clark - Don't You CareRhetta Hughes - Light My FireKathryn Moses - Music In My HeartCharlie Palmieri - No Esta En Na'Jack Costanzo - Que Dichoso EsLos Caracoles - Cumbia SabrosaThree Sounds - (Sock It to Me) Harper Valley PTALou Rawls - Trouble Down Here BelowAlex Konadu - W'awu Do Ho NoMarcos Valle - MentiraBob Dorough - The Beat Goes OnNina Simone - Come Ye

Show #40 - All over the map, as usual! I don't know why put for some reason I'm playing a lot of really short songs lately, and as a result, I'm covering a lot more ground than I normally do. So in this episode we go from funk to Brazil to latin to reggae to soul and back to Brazil for more. Whew... there are 16 songs in this episode, and they're all special - some highlights: Eddy Grant really rockin' with 'Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys', Quebecois soft-porn soundtrack hit 'Psychedelic Party', Brazillian superstars Marcos Valle and Jorge Ben, Lani Hall's sublime 'Love Song', and the Brazillian soulful strut! - Rosinha de Valenca's 'Down'. Lots to enjoy here, so dig in.

I think I can stretch this post for one more show...

Show #41 - Featuring the one of the funkiest songs from funkiest LP from India (and with a population of over a billion, you've gotta respect THAT) - from Ravi Shankar's nephew, Ananda Shankar - 'Streets of Calcutta'. And from there the show just keeps moving - African tracks, Brazillian funk, a Canadian tune, a track from the ultra-rare Nico Gomez album... oh, and Isaac Hayes! Definitely a good show here people, check it out.

Show #42! I recorded this show later than I usually do, and so I found myself tending towards the slower end of the spectrum... but with variety, too! Some deep grooves on here from the Ju-Par Universal Orchestra, Brook Benton brings a really chilled out vocal number, there's the great jazzy Melton Brothers' 'Living in the City', some standout soul from Mike James Kirkland & the Lovelites, and the show finishes on some quality reggae soul by Marcia Griffiths & Claudette Miller. But it's not all slow! There's the insane Polish Jazz version of 'Cissy Strut' by the Katowice Big Band, Nostalgia 77, and the worlds first rap tune, recorded by Jacques Dutronc in 1967!

    IF IT ROTATES

    Nostalgia 77 - Cheney Lane
Ramsey Lewis - Afro Boogaloo Twist
The Big Band Katowice - Madrox
Willie Gresham - Step by Step
    Ju-Par Universal Orchestra - Time
Jacques Dutronc - J'ai tout lu, tout vu, tout bu
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings - This Land is Your Land
    Baby Huey - Hard Times
Elis Regina - As Curvas da Estrada de Santos
    Air - Man's Got Style
    Brook Benton - Movin' Day
Melton Brothers Band - Livin' in the City
Mike James Kirkland - Love Is (Nothing But A Feeling)
Lovelites - This Love is Real
    Marcia Griffiths - Truly
Claudette Miller & Conscious Minds - Tonight Is the Night
