whatup ya'll?found a mono copy of gene chandler duke of earl on vee jay...label is black deep groove with silver font, cover is heavy thick cardbord with no zip code in the address on back..I know that the vee jay label usually has the rainbow circle and the oval around the "vee jay"...is this some kind of later pressing or a 1st press og mono?thanks!

  • pretty sure It should be a rainbow band on the label.Supposedly the Stereo version is very Rare as well.Strangely, I got about 25 OG sealed copies in a collection one time.I could never figure out why?

  • thanks for the info coolchris...

I don't think it's a re-issue or a bootlegg because of the heavy cardboard cover... would you (or anyone else know) if the black label is a later pressing that Vee-Jay used?

I know it was originally released in 1962...i'm wondering if the black label is the pressing run from 1965?

    thanks!
