woah this made me remember of this cd i made up called 'catalistrumentals'
heres a few joints from that
all from 2001 which is a year after i started making beats
i remember i made ' disarray' on September 11th , right after i heard about the towers so i decided to get all 'political' with the spoken word samples.
Well, all my really old beats died with my old computer. Which is good, because they were atrociously bad.
This right here is one of the oldest ones I can still find--probably from 2002 or 2003. It's from when I was still trying to teach myself Pro Tools Free as well as the basics of EQing and compression and whatnot. Obviously, there's some rookie shit in there, but I feel like there are some good ideas in there as well.
Here's a joint I made back in about 1998. Everything was done in CoolEdit, but before CoolEdit had the multi-track feature, so all of the overdubs and layering were done with the "Paste On Top" function, only allowing for one different sound to be added in each time. So I had about 500 different files for each song like "drums" "drums + bassline" "drums with fill + bassline" "drums with fill + different bassline" etc and worked from there. Super tedious.
Haha, I wasn't gonna post, but since we flipped the same sample I just had to post this. The wav was from 2004 so I'm guessing I made it around 2002-2003. Straight from the mpc, just a couple of sequences with some live track mutes.
And one of you guys posted a beat from last summer...? That's pretty damn recent in my book. I think I liked Kidgusto's beat best, closely followed by Catalist's "Frequencies." Ms Damn's first one was fun (couldn't get the second one to play). Bapt's beat didn't play either-- must be a MAC vs. PC thing.

nice man!
yea i've heard another variation of this beat , where someone just looped the original and layed drums on top for an R&B track. Some cool chopping in yours, it is cool to hear how different people interpret chopping.
Just got another sp1200 recently, and have roughly 500 beats that I made on it between 1990 and 1997, which is when I switched to MPs. I am sure I can dig up some stinkers.

I'd really like to hear it. Those sp beats on ''4 elements'' were great.
if i uploaded the "album" i recorded when i was a sophomore-junior in high school on my dr. sample, would anybody wanna download it? im recording it but i dont wanna upload if its gonna get ignored...haha
