Mac Genius Bar...any experience (not RR, but...)

This isn't record related, but I'm pretty frustrated, so forgive me. My computer decided to kick the boot last night. I've tried everything, googled everything, mac forumed it up and all that...no luck. I have a mac mini that I use for everyday use, email, soulstrut, etc. I'm getting the flashing question mark, but it won't let me boot from the installation disk and now it won't eject the disk. It's driving me nuts. I tried all of the suggestions. I set up an appointment for help at the Mac Genius Bar. The name kind of annoys me, but maybe they'll help me. Has anyone had any experience with the "Genius Bar"? I want them to fix it, but for some reason i feel like I'm going to get the run around or somehow I will be told I was doing something wrong. computers are booty. One minute it was fine and next it's screwed.I'm on someone else computer right now and it doesn't feel comfortable, it's not like home So, Genius Bar...any opinions, what should I expect?

    went there last week. they fixed my computer, but only because it was something easily replacable that shouldn't have broken in the first place.

    the woman i dealt with didn't strike me as much of a genius, but i wonder if that is a product of the undue stress of running around all day wearing a shirt that says "genius." maybe she was a genius when she was hired but burnt out quickly. friendly though.

    appointments are stupid. i was the only person there even though the magic board was all filled up.

    Have you tried holding option and selecting your start-up disc?
    Also holding down the mouse clicker after restart will eject the disc.
    Sounds like you have either a bad hard drive or bad optical drive.
    Also try P-RAM reset by holding Command Option P and R after the chime until you hear the chime again, also try reseting your firmware by holding down Command Option O and F, then type in:
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
    See if that does anything
