Yeah, the one time I agreed to let someone pick
something up was a disaster - I only said OK because
he was insisting and wouldn't drop it, and then he
never showed - even after calling me on the phone
all "I'm leaving my house right now, I'll be there
in 20 minutes" and the next I heard from him was an
    e-mail 5 weeks later, "yeah, sorry, I don't think I
    can afford it right now..."

On the other hand, I was extremely annoyed the one time I asked to pick a record up in person and was rebuffed--dude lived five blocks from me.

  • Yeah, I sold a compressor to a drummer in the next state over. He wanted to arrange pickup - by his friend, who would hold it for a month before delivering it to the drummer when he played a casino gig an hour away.

This to avoid $20 shipping on a $700 item.

As it turns out the dude was legit, but he was mightily annoyed that I insisted on doing insured/confirmed mail instead of the hesher express.

Shit, how else are they gonna save up for those 96 packs of Pabst!
