I'm looking to send my folks on a cruise some tropical like. When's the best time to look for deals? Know of any sites? What are some fun destinations? Also, what's the boat-life like? I just want to get my folks somewhere crazy relaxing, but entertaining, with some sort of package set up so there's shit already lined up for them to do. My parents are in their early 60s, haven't been on vacation in forever. My dad has a bad knee, so know climbing pyramids. My folks however are decently young at heart as both of them ride motorcyles for a little R&R.They deserve to be sent somewhere and it's my resolution to send get them the fuck out of Texas for a minute so they can re-up on life.

To my shame, and pleasure, I have been on a cruise.
For my inlaws 50th anniversary they insisted we all go on a cruise.
It was an Alaskan cruise. Crystal.
I saw records in a basement in Juneau, thank you Toby. Also saw, otters, eagles, caribou, albatross and lots of salmon. Saw a glacier calf. The scenery and wildlife was great. My only time in Alaska.
The ship is luxury city and friendly to bad kneed people. (by the way if your dad has bad knees, how does he know pyramids?) A typical day on ship for N and me started with a light breakfast in bed. Then laps around the boat. Followed by aerobics class. Then a big breakfast with the whole family. Goof around for an hour or 2 then lunch look at the coast for a few hours. Then a huge dinner with the family. If the inlaws insist we go to the show, if not we can go dancing to the jazz trio, or hang out on the deck, play dominoes until the desert bar is brought out. There was also a casino and a few other bars, sauna and hot tub.
It is decadence to the max and your folks would no doubt have a great time. a room with a window is a must.
It is also everything that is wrong with the world. Cruise ships pollute both the air and water. They glorify excess. Our ship was proud of their Dutch crew, Filipino kitchen staff and Indonesian service staff. Filled me with the kind of liberal guilt that guz likes to talk about.
Shit, we took my Mom for her 50th birthday a couple years ago and I loved it.
I even came up (*PASUE*) on some chick getting double-teamed on the upper deck at like 3am. I glanced over, took ASSesment and kept on walking. As I turned the corner, I passed a group of about 4-5 pre-teens walking towards the action.

Sounds like somebody needs to step their cruise game up--what kind of a dinghy were you on, mate?
It's funny how one cruise can f**k up the game
You bought a 4.0, you better get your change
Ain't no platinum in those Cartiers, switch your frame
Ain't no manicures on board, then switch your plane
Do them schitts even got a full suite of amenities?
The point of my post was that your parents would love it. My inlaws no longer use Crystal. They now do Carnival which may be owned by Disney. They say the food is not as good but the entertainment is better.
Werd, I went with my cousin and some other fam and had a great time. Its super relaxing and I think prime for the parent types. The food was good, there's enough to do and we just hung out at each port we stopped at. The thing I liked was its all optional - if you feel like partying you can, if you wanna chill - you can... Same thing with each port you stop at - shit, you don't even have to get off the ship, its all up to you. But all in all, you can pick and choose whatever excursions you want.
I went on Carnival on the Mexican Riviera cruis (7 days with stops in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas). I went in September and it was still pretty hot (avg = 100 degrees). To me the only negative side is being on the boat for so long, it can get to you after a few days. But I'd go again...
