Serious question. Who started using this phrase first? And do you like Rare groove? I think I like rare groove. When I think of rare groove, I think of jazz-funk and obscure jazz scat blah blah records in high priced boutique shops in Japan. Am I on the right track?

Norman Jay the British DJ coined the term and it really encompassed all the
genre's that many on the board still seek out: Jazz, Soul, Jazz-funk, funk etc.
It was just another term for breaks and all the related genre's. Same stuff different name.
It's just fallen out of favor, so it seems like a mythical thing these days.
