so i'm trying to accumulate as many hip-hop songs as possible that have the topic of food in the lyrical content (and not just in the title). this is for a mix i wanna put together for a friend and i figured some of you would have some good ideas for songs i may not have even heard yet...i know there was a similar thread a while back, but the songs weren't limited to strictly hip hop. i'm thinking of some stuff like BIZ MARKIE "chinese food", P.U.T.S. "eat street", maybe MF DOOM "beef rap" and some other stuff offa MM FOOD, etc... if anyone can think of some tracks along these lines, please to drop some knowledge here. like for starters... which were the better FAT BOYS songs about food?? any help is appreciated here. thx

"mmmmmm betacarotine"
on another note... did that version of "kookies" that MF DOOM did with Just Blaze with completely new lyrics ever get a proper release?? i'd love to use that track as well.
video is that they go to all you can eat at
SBARRO - that place is so foul, I could never
even finish a meal there, never mind ALL YOU CAN EAT
BDP-Beef
fatboys .....
license that from me seen....
has that cool food preparation/metaphor type thing happening.
Boney Stoney feat Bias B - Lyrical Luncheon (Aus)
"lentil soup is mental fruit, ginger root is good for youths..."
This one's right up your alley.
Yoda cuts up nearly every single food reference in a rap song.... ever.
DJ Yoda - Food
i just remembered this one as well:
Goodie Mob - Soul Food
ps: herm, i can't find that A.L.T. & the lost civilization anywhere.... think you can post up "refried beans" if you got it handy?... i'd appreciate that.
hey paulnice... what dj yoda release is this track taken from?

A Tribe Called Quest's "Ham & Eggs" ("all the time")
De La Soul's De La Soul Is Dead has a number of references to De La's Glow Nut Shop. Let's not forget "Bitties In The BK Lounge"
Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day" (Fatburger)
Raekwon-"Ice Cream"
MC Lyte's "Ice Cream Dream"
Black Sheep's "Flavor Of The Month"
(the above three may be used as metaphor, but it still makes a number of food references)
Digital Underground's "The Humpty Dance" (Burger King reference)
Eric B. & Rakim's "Paid In Full" ("and a nice big plate of fish, which is my favorite dish")
3rd Bass' "Brooklyn Queens" ("And we should talk over some Chinese and fries")
Brand Nubian's "Slow Down" ("I knew a girl named Tropicana, she's always juicy")
Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Posse On Broadway" ("We went to Taco Bell for some Mexican eatin'/but Taco Bell was closed, the girl was on my tip/She said "we'll go the other way we'll stop and eat at Dick's/Dick's is the place where the cool hang out")
Wu-Tang Clan's "Method Man" ("don't eat Skippy, Jif, or Peter Pan/peanut butter 'cause I'm not butter/In fact I snap back like a rubber/band, I be Sam Sam I am/
And I dont eat green eggs and ham")

Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" ("I like the Whopper/**** the Big Mac")
Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" ("cookin' MC's like a pound of bacon")
Chubb Rock's "Ya Bad Chubbs" ("And then I'll serve you with coffee and cake/
Oh damn, I should've had a V-8, oh well/I'll put you on a plate so it looks a little neater/You're a tramp, so I'll sprinkle salt and pepper/And paprika on your face, like mace So you can taste immediately/Just like the base that went up your nose previously")
Blueprint's "Big Girls Need Love Too" (the entire song, but respect goes to Printmatic for these lines:
Got my mind on my money and my money on your food
Cause if I don't take you out to eat you'll catch an attitude
I'm no Denzel when it comes to pull
I know you're only with me because I keep you full
I used to come over with condoms to smash in you
But now I bring a snack for you
Twinkies always seem to get your ass in the mood
And when you're done grubbin', we go back to your room
You're so freaky when it's time to get it on
Sometimes we put ketchup on the bed before we bone
If you haven't had a big girl, let me describe it
It's like havin' sex with a waterbed
But who needs a bed when you're there to lay on
Who needs a pillow when I got your big arm
I love gettin' lost inside your big body
I'll let you anything, except ride me
She's double her bodyweight, double my fun
I'm doubling my pleasure like Doublemint Gum
Gumbo's "Basement Music"
EDIT:
50 Cent's "21 Questions" ("I love you like a fat kid loves cake")
Harmony's "Poundcake"
Digital Underground's "Oregano Flow" ("Top Ramen's how I'm comin'" along with the rest of the song)
I also realized some of what I mentioned has been listed, but fuck it.
EDIT #2:
Sir Mix-A-Lot's "My Hooptie" ("Hit Mickey D's, Maharaji starts to bug/
He ate a Quarter Pounder, threw the pickles on the rug")
Beastie Boys' "Stop That Train" ("Went from the station to Orange Julius/I bought a hot dog from who? George Drakoulias")
House Of Pain's "Jump Around" ("I can't eat a pig, 'cause a pig is a cop")
Cypress Hill's "Insane In The Brain" ("toss that ham in the frying pan like Spam")
A number of references on this album too by The Pacifics:
As I look at the chicken wings and rice, I am reminded of Ice-T's "Fried Chicken". The song itself isn't about chicken, but after thoroughly cleaning his records and getting exhausted, he sits down for a quick bite.
this shit is dope!!
"cause i bake the cake, then take the cake...and wish that i could just get a piece of the pie"
nice one, man... i think i'm just gonna add the following to that list as well...
sir mix-a-lot - buttery biscuits
ll cool j - milky cereal
I'm never screamin loud with any curses
Rougly, that a child can learn
I teach kids, and ducks that burn
With a flamethrower, and how do you show a
A grass rapper, cut him with a lawnmower
Twice, into golden wheat
Ground the rest into moldin meat
And cook em, til they all well done
They not ready, they don't smell done
Like fish, it ain't my favorite dish
I grab a steak and to battle i wish
A coke mc or pepsi i'll sip up
Drop your face and bring the other lip up
It was supposed to go on his recent album but the label had trouble clearing it (shocker).
It was the Oliver Twist sample that posed the most problems I believe.
I think DJ Authentik already made a mixtape about food, but it mainly focused on his unabiding love for delicious sausages.
The intro was sicc; he kept up cutting up that T.I. line where he says, "And if you doubt me, dog/you betta out me, dog."
What you know about that?
