Does anyone else collect late 60s-early 70s Mexican rock LPs? There's some great stuff on them, ecspecially the 45s. One of my favorites is by Josue y El Grupo Amor. Mexican drum sets sounded like children's drum sets! The cymbals are so awful that you have to hear some of the drum breaks!

I collect the shit pretty heavily,, though I haven't bought anything great in the past 4 months. Rockadelic is deep on this schitt as well. That Kaleidoscope LP is the end-all LP as far as Mexican garage sounds go though. You should peep early Los Apson, Los Babys, Los Rockin Devils, etc. for garage/beat sounds. Lots of jangly cover tunes Theres still alot of undiscovered stuff from Mexico... my wifes aunt had some killer LPs that she didnt wanna part with when I was there.

My late xmas present to the 'Strut: An insanely rare Mexican funk jammy...

This is a Tex-Mex group... and unrelated (as far as I know) to "El Amor", the Mexican group who has two slammin LPs.

  • Check out Los Hitters. Good beat garage with some surf elements at times. They do great covers (in Spanish) of "For Your Love" and "Well Respected Man" as well as other stuff. Favorite song title by them is "Mary y Juana."

Los Apson is awesome! I like their song "There are no more beatles" (its in Spanish, but I can't remember the title in spanish..)

Josue and El Amor have to have some connection- they made a single together. I can make scans of the 45 if you want

I love Los Rockin Devils too....
Josue went through a garage-y phase and released a number of garage singles before going back to tex-mex.
