    But seriously, don't people with British accents pronounce "MACK" as "MACH," rather than vice-versa?

    I'm confused, if people in England see the words Mach 4 they'll pronounce it Mack...

    You have to be old enough to remember when going faster than the speed of sound was a big deal.

    I'm not disputing the answer, but I'm
    not so much hung up on the pronunciation
    of "mach" as I am "MOC" being read as a word.

    Personally, if you showed me a 45 with the label "Mach"
    and said "what is this label?" I would say "mock"

    If you showed me a 45 with the label "MOC" and said
    "what is this label?" I would say "M - O - C"

    I can't read it as anything but an acronym.

    Still, good one, Rich - you had us all buzzing this month...
    and I have to admit I was wondering all day at work what I
    would come home tonight and find the answer to be.

    What about "moc" as the (informal) shortened form of the word "moccasin"?
