Yo,I've had a looooong week of preparing materials for my tenure review packet (Prof. related). Now, I need to listen to some vinyls to unwind. I'm thinking of listening to some cool-out joints but I'm not sure. I figured I'd poll the 'Strut faithful to get some ideas on what to listen to (mood-wise). So, what are y'all listening to at present?Peace,Big Stacks from Kakalak

I've been listening to that Amerie mixtape that The Fader linked to, which is pretty good in places. I've been spooking myself out with some soundtrack shit as well - "The Thing", "Chinatown", "Sorcerer", "Solaris" - and lots of Eddie Kendricks. The first Montrose album is an enduring guilty pleasure, and the second album by my old band is good, even if I don't actually play on it.

Very necessary sunday listening.
Next up is........
Although knowing my wide-open tastes, I might just follow it up with something different.
So far, I haven't listened to anything, other than working on an intro beat. I chopped up some Bobby Blue Bland but my heart isn't in it. I think it's time to cut off the ASR. I think I'll put on some vinyls for listening pleasure in a bit. Some of the stuff closest to the stereo include (too lazy to put th records back on the shelves-related):
-Lenny Williams.
-Johnny Sayles (I love me some Dakar/Brunswick).
-Friends of Distinction.
-Maurice Starr (12").
-Angela Bofill.
-Maxayn.
-Oliver Sain.
-The Fabulous Luckett Brothers.
-Switch.
-Barbara Acklin.
-William DeVaughn.
-Curtis Mayfield.
-Leroy Hutson.
..and three other piles stacked against the wall too numerous to name. I'm surprised wifey hasn't screamed at me yet.
Peace,

Don't forget the Glen Campbell joint. I loved me some AM Gold. 70's morning radio was

I love that Old School Need To Learn-O tape. Hi Tony!
this weekend. First time ever hearing it, and I am blown away:
These guys were so talented it's staggering. Seriously one
of the greatest US bands of the 60's, often sadly overlooked.
back on topic, i'm listening to Bob Dylan "The Man In Me" and Shirelles "Soldier Boy" and Air "Realize"
