  • RECORD OF THE WEEK After the "Overworked Underpaid" EP became a little bit of a favourite around these parts, Toronto's Dubious follow it up with another not-so-secret weapon of Prize Records. To all intents and puropses, "Heavy Hands" is a deep house burner, but with the benefit of a minor electric guitar riff, Environ keys and a head kneading wiggly bit (plus the looped intro to Spektrum's "Kinda New" to boot if Kev's not mistaken!). "Sidesteps" takes one step beyond, again melodic and influenced by New York's finest (Messers Geist and Green) but holding its own with a unique angle. Finally comes "Concrete Tan", the most blatant electro-disco production on the EP with ace Arthur Russell-inspired moments and one with which DJs will have the most fun.
