I think the song you're talking about is 'Hong Kong Blues'. One of my Dad's favorite songs, which he sings and plays often.
that is it !
You know how to do that , don't you?
You just put your lips together and blow"
19 years old, her first flick
in this film ("How Little We Know") that after years
of trying to find a recording of it (I'm still convinced
I'll find a 78 of it someday) I just burned it straight
from my VHS copy, so I could play it on a radio show I was
guesting on that featured pop/jazz vocal stuff...
I actually posted the MP3 on Waxidermy not too long ago,
but it was - you guessed it - ignored completely.
Here it is again, in case anybody wants it:

I was really into that song after I saw that movie, too SoulOnIce. Then about 12 years ago I came across a 2 or 3 lp Hoagy Carmichael box set that had that song on it, but I didn't have money to pick it up, went back 2 hours later and it was gone! Never seen it since. Great song, thanks for the mp3!
Hoagy is also in The Best Years of Our Lives from 1946, though not as fun a role as Cricket. Really great movie, though.
But come on Stardust trumps all of his other songs!
oooohhhh-
although Skylark is in the ballpark
Monty
Did you get to talk to him at all? The man - aside from being an amazing songwriter - knew and worked with Bix Beiderbeck!
No kidding! I've read some of the stories about those guys hanging out in Indiana in the 20's. True players for real! Hoagy just seems like a really cool super laid back guy. Why does it seem like the fact that he wrote Georgia on my Mind is hidden knowledge? Especially after the movie Ray, it seems like everyone thinks Ray Charles wrote the song. javascript:void(0)
