Im not calling anyone who wants to see this movie a dummy at all. But I'm sure there will be a percentage of watchers who will take it for fact.

Well the film is certainly based on fact, no?
I'm still not clear here as to what exactly you're implying the film is relaying to the audience.
Are you saying it's distorted bullshit? And if yes, how so?

FeelGoodism during tradgedy. Classic Hollywood hero-worship ala Towering Inferno.
    Entertainment based on fact.

I wont need it, I saw it. To each his own. Pass the popcorn.

I was watching something on this film.

Am I wrong, or isn't this film, not so much to do about 9/11 as to, really more about the 2 guys and their day and their story?

I'll watch it before I give an opinion.

prolly wont see it cuz i dont really like disaster movies. plus oliver stone is too heavy handed for my taste.

i am excited about the new michael mann miami vice joint though.

what is "snakes on a plane"? there's ads all over town.

oh, and i like the new old navy commercial.

    Yes!

what is "snakes on a plane"? there's ads all over town.

Internet hype gone too far. A film that can't possibly live up to the concept but is destined for cult status anyway. A big, annoying cult.

Which film are you saying is cloaked in "feelgoodism"?
    It certainly wasn't United 93.
United 93 was the complete polar opposite of a feel good movie.
    (did you even see it?)

WTC, again, I can't speak on.

The hype was short lived and they missed the boat frankly. I don't think anyone cares about it anymore. Besides, I don't think it will be nearly as campy as everyone is hoping.

Aside from the very last 20 minutes of the film, which admittedly descend into overwrought Spielbergian sentimentalism, Schindler's List, as Dabney put it, was incredibly raw and gritty, and it honestly doesn't feel like any film made before or since.
Aside from that ending, it certainly doesn't feel like anything else Spielberg has done in his career.
And much deserved awards aside, It's tough for me to fathom anyone sitting through Schindler's List and coming away feeling like they just sat through some "typical Hollywood" fare.
Despite our popular convictions, Hollywood does produce works of art from time to time.
That which is both critically and commercialy successful ("The Godfather" anyone?).

And no, I really don't see how you managed to view United 93 as a "Hollywood" "feel good" movie with "Towering Inferno" like "hero-worship."

You sure we're talking about the same film??

I'm not talkin about "united" 93. I'm talkin about The Hollywood Formula which permeates many of these "historical events" films. Do the math.

Whatever................pass the popcorn and no smoking please.

ok, the heat one is kind of a stretch. it wasn't a series but a made for t.v. special called "l.a. takedown".mann basically remade it for the movies and called it "heat".
