    1. Quicksilver - You need this in your life.
    2. TextMate - No bullshit text & coding with spelling & syntax checking
    3. Parallels Desktop - I run XP for Visio, Ubuntu for a glimpse of the future
    4. OmniOutliner Pro (w/ KGTD) - Grad student power pack
    5. iTunes - It's not perfect, but I put it through the paces and it works.

    Bonus b-sides:
    Adium - Multiprotocol IM
VLC - Cross-platform codec-agnostic video playback and streaming
    Azureus - Bittorrent
    Transmit - FTP
iStumbler - WiFi finder (although the icon is so ugly it makes me want to barf when I see it in the dock)
NetNewsWire - I resisted standalone RSS readers for a long time, but NNW gets the job done.

    -Flash
    -VLC
    -Firefox
    -Adobe CS2 Suite
    -Transmit
    -GarageSale

Although I think all are cross-platform except for GarageSale.

OmniOutliner Pro (w/ KGTD) - Grad student power pack

Well, I like OmniOutliner for taking notes, it allows me to put together structured sets of notes with far less effort than in Word, and gives you collapsible outlines that are easily reorganized. My only beef with it is that it doesn't take advantage of OSX's built-in ability to check spelling as you type.

KGTD is a really slick implementation of David Allen's "Getting Things Done" productivity methodology, which was created for executives, but has been embraced by geeks and peons (see www.43folders.com). KGTD allows you to create lists of tasks which will generate iCal to-do entries. It's a very impressive use of AppleScript to turn an OOP document into an app.

If you bought your Mac in the last year or so, you should have a licensed version of OmniOutliner (not Pro) pre-installed. You'll have to upgrade to Pro to run KGTD.

    3. Soul Seek.

    4. Linotype Font Explorer------Blows away any font activation software (especially
