What's Up with Ebay Browsing?

So you like to browse certain Ebay categories, like for instance Music/Records/Reggae. At that point I usually choose 33 1/3 or 45 depending on my mood. Well now all the recordsare lumped into one category, so you gotta look at all the 45's when you just wanna get at some Lp's. Is my computer trippin' or is this one of Ebay's famous "improvements"?

You're really limiting yourself if you
only look at the 45 "category" anyway -
only a percentage of sellers bother to
use the sub-listing of 33/45 and the rest
just list things in "records" or even just "music."

So, thousands of 45's are not viewable if you only
    look under the "45" subcategory.

Yeah I hear ya but if you are just tryin' to check
in a very specific area it was convenient to have
    the sub-categories.
Looking through thousands of items instead of hundreds
    SUCKS!

...And by that logic we all should be just browsing the music category?
So now I'm looking at LPs/CD's/Casettes, when all I want Funk 45's?
Why? So I can find an auction where some seller, listed a grail type piece
with the title "Record Album" in the casette section? If you have enough time on
your hands to do that much browsing, knock yourself out...

Ever walk into a record store basement where things are all over the fucking place? Where stairs and bricks are missing, Earth is reclaiming Order and the wood rot is debasing the moral integrity of the ceiling joists? Where time stands still and out of the convienient bounds of Alphabetic Systems and Genre Tabs? Ever get a steal because the wax wasn't where it was Supposed to be? Ever smell rat shit in a dank corner and know it's coming home in your lungs? Isn't that exciting?

    Well, it is for me.

    Cats are too clean, daddio.

Dude, you're not getting it. It's not that someone lists a grail
in the "cassette section" - it's that half of the vinyl never gets
listed deeper than the "music" section.

It's all levels. When selling, you have options of how detailed you
want your listing to be. It starts with "music" which is the main category,
that you need to choose. After that, there is records, then size, speed, etc.
Those are all optional. Therefore, if Johnny Knownothing doesn't bother listing
his $5.99 buy-it-now "Impeach the President" as a record, or as a 45, but only
as "music," then when you search only under the "45 category" YOU WON'T SEE IT.

Yeah, it means you have to scan through a lot of shit. In fact, I usually
will take the risk of only searching "records" if I'm just browsing for
shit, because browsing "music" is overwhelming. But I guarantee you,
searching for 45's only in the "45" category is like skipping half
the boxes at your local record spot and only looking through every
    other one. At best.

I get your point, it was crystal clear the first time you made it.
If I'm doing a search, I'll do that from the front page so any
    possible category will come up...
But if I'm browsing I want to see specific things and only those things,
NOTHING ELSE. So if I'm missing shit, but don't have to look at bullshit, I'm cool
    with that trade off.

Is it the record or the hunt? It's the same 'ol debate,
spend years and very little money finding things on your
list for cheap in dank mom and pop shops, or just hit a
shop like TSL and get a bunch of dope shit NOW! There's
something to be said for both, that's why I've taken both routes.
I love a good score, but I'm not afraid of shelling out $$$ when it's needed.

FYI - all of the categories under records are back up now on eBay.
