I like bloody caesars more, which is a Canadian creation. It uses Clamato instead of tomato juice.

    my basic recipe is

    1/3 vodka
    2/3 clamato
    dash of worcestershire sauce
    liberal dash of tobasco
    cayenne pepper
    celery salt
    black pepper
    freshly grated horseradish (very important)
    lime juice

final icing on the cake is to rim the glass w/ celery salt. Swish the lime around the edge of the glass first so the salt adheres.

Aside from the clamato, this is pretty much my recipe. Except I would also favor Crystal hot sauce or Red Rooster over the Tabasco. Pickled green beans are a good garnish, along with celery.

Rim the glass with cajun spices is the way i roll. Absolut Peppar vodka.

i make my fair share of them at work, but only drink them here and there. When i was young my dad used to make me and my sister drink a glass of V8 juice every night at dinner. I used to chug it then gag like crazy. In retrospect appreciate him trying to grow us up healthy but damn dude, give a guy some veggies and call it a day.

    Lime vs. Lemon????

Both. The best bloodies I've ever had were at Madame Jumele's (RIP) in Saratoga Springs, NY. Lemon, lime, salt, pepper, worcester, tabasco, tomato juice, fresh horse radish, garlic...that may be it.

God, what a drink. Need one of those this weekend...

Yeah, it was great. Served in a huge mason jar, we'd sit on the porch on Friday afternoons, play dominoes, eat the burger special, and drink two of those. Best way to start the weekend.

That place was a shithole, but I miss it for that drink alone.

And you can make it more southern by using pickled okra as a garnish. My favorite bloody marys have come from Delilah's in Chicago and Uglisich's (RIP) in New Orleans (where I stole the idea to use okra).

Is that place still around? My wife's folks live in Schenectady. I could hop over to Saratoga the next time I'm up that way....

A-1 steak sauce(stated above) or BBQ sauce. Something to add warmth to the bright tomato flav.

I've seen parlsey floating in one before.

There a place in Tribeca called Walker's. Their Bmarys are bangin'. They have a wide range of hot sauces for u to choose from, so the bartender can add your pick to the shaker before the pour!!!
